This USED to be how Pentecostal Churches used to be. It used to be that way at almost EVERY UPC Church on Sunday night. Now it is so orchestrated and planned - you know exactly how - when - and where something is going to happen in a service. Some of it is worse than the A/G or COG and that is pretty bad!

It is still that way at Rod Parsleys, Tommy Bates, Clint Browns, TD Jakes and many other places. You wonder why his place is filled up with Ex-UPC? They got tired of going to the Professional DEAD Pentecostal Churches in Columbus and I have preached in them and THEY ARE DEAD as 4:00! DEAD - DEAD - DEAD!
You know what is filling some of these churches up - people are sick of going and hearing ONE GOD - like other people REALLY believe in more than ONE - water baptism - hair - pants and I LOVE THE UNITED PENTECOSTAL CHURCH so much! You should LOVE GOD! I got so sick of hearing that - over and over. I LOVE the UPC - like it was some great Saviour!
These guys Preach JESUS - the Savior - the Healer - The Deliverer - The Need Meeter - the Baptizer in the Holy Ghost.
Oh Lord - Now I have went and done it - stepped on the Sacred Cow!

If this woman can get on here and say what she said about Bishop Jakes - who pastors over 20,000 people - I can say she is dead and twice plucked up by the roots - DEAD and needs the HOLY GHOST!

Some of you DEAD HEADS need to blow your sign up - YOU should be arrested for FALSE ADVERTISING! Pentecostal - Give me a Break! You wouldn't know Pentecost if it slapped you across the face!

I have not taken time to read the entire thread but this one caught my eye

You "roar" and "roar" about the UPC being "dead heads" and that you can't have church with out your Hammond and I have to sit back and actually feel sorry for a man so far gone. I am not denying that some churches have become structured and really stand by the fact that they get out at 8:30 not a min more but GOD will deal with them and the pastor - I think a man like you who "professes" to be Penticostal should really take some personal time to refect on how your words would please God.
Does your church ever have times that there is no instrumental music , but only the sound of men, women, and children on their faces before GOD weeping.... isn't that at times music enough? So go ahead and keep the drums a going and the Hammond blairing...but when the trumpet sounds and your music was too loud to hear it - don't be sorry because then again you "had church" right?

I was born into a Classical Pentecostal Church and Family and have been to a lot of places and seen lots of faces - but I remain a Classical Pentecostal. To call me or others REPROBATE because we left your denomination shows how immature you are.

AB, THAT is what I miss about our "Pentecostal" church! I wouldn't want it all of the time. but a good Holy Ghost downpour (complete with a screaming B3) never hurts every once in a while!

You might need to read the other posts from the DEAD HEADS that don't care for Prophetic Praise, Roaring Hammond's and Powerful Pentecostal Praise and Worship. Why don't you respond to those that slammed Sunday Nights on the "Dance Floor" POA and the Manguns.
It is your own UPC brothers and sisters that posted how much they despised the Shouting and Dancing and "Music & Beat Driven Praise." They have been listening to too many old DEAD HEADS that have LOST THEIR SHOUT!
Go pray through and ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost and get in a good Pentecostal Church where the Power of God breaks yokes and destroys bondages! :rockband

Good advice. It's just too bad too many times people mistake the power of God for what happened in the video in question. It may have been God trying to move, but it turned into an instrument-driven demonstration for most. I'm sure some got genuinely touched and were thinking of the Lord while celebrating, but it's obvious many were not.

And we think TV is a GOOD THING for Pentecost? LOL! People will tune in just to get a good laugh at stuff like this video!

NO ONE on this thread has disagreed with that, Thad. It's just that some, and one in particular (AB), can't handle the other side of the truth, which is that far too many services are driven by the organ, guitar, keyboard, etc. I've asked him to take the challenge: stop the instruments mid-shout and see what happens. Sure, the shock will stun some, but the true praisers will then keep right on'a goin'. I also challenged them both to step off of the dance floor one night at their respective churches and watch. Neither has accepted that challenge.

Music-driven praise. Ain't no such animal in scripture.

When we got here all they had was a piano. We brought with us a hammond and drums. We livened up the music and i ain't planning on changing it to Baptist style.

I don't think anyone has disagreed that rocking services, with loud music, shouting, dancing, etc are awesome and even essential in today's churches. I love those kinds of services and thankfully, go to a UPC church where they are pretty common. However, my only problem with some of the posts here is they imply that without the loud music, shouting, dancing, etc, then the church is 'dead'. There are times when the music in our service is slow, some with only a piano (gasp!) and yet deeply powerful. . .it's the WORDS of the songs and not the beat that drive the praise. People weep before the Lord during these slow times, and some are driven to their knees at the sheer power of God's presence. And when I leave a service like that, I feel as if I've had church just as much as if I had danced my way around the entire building with 'Can't stop Praisin' His Name' being rocked out by the musicians and praise singers.
