That pretty much settles it for me. Plus that you gotta be baptized in moving water and not a horse trough.

creeks, rivers I broke the ice many a time. Find me a family portrait of the trinity and i might take a second look at it.

This made me laugh out loud. I just went up and told my wife. I just might try that.....its awesome. I've been debating some trinitarian folks I would love to use it but I don't want to make them mad. Good stuff ogat.

The running water thing though....uhhhhh.....what????????

No....why would you say that?

He apparently didn't get that the name of Jesus is the authority.

Actually, from my study of the Jewish Roots of Christianity, I found that baptism was absolutely nothing new in the NT at all. Not only that, but it was not uncommon in Jesus' time for disciples to go through the Mikveh (Jewish baptism) and be immersed in the name of the Rabbi/Teacher whose teaching they were following, and to whom they were separating themselves TO. From a Jewish perspective, authority was not the focus, the person being separated TO was the focus.

So, from that standpoint, we are immersed in the name of our "Rabbi" signifying that we are separating ourselves TO Him. We are joining ourselves to His teaching etc. This was no small matter in biblical times. It was extremely serious and a big commitment as well.

I read similar MOW. Hey have you ever had a face to face talk with a Rabbi......jus wonderin

The bottom line is,the name is Jesus and I understand that and would never baptize any other way.

THanks Bro Joela....I have no problems with J. name baptism.....name it and claim it. He is the one true God. Just really hadn't ever been faced with this particualr scenario so close to home.
