Re: "Who are these People?"

I have to say that being of a more liberal persuasion, as far as the UPCers are concerned, I came to this forum with much fear and trepidation. My husband worked on me from February until I came on, he kept telling me, you are going to meet people just like us. I was pretty nervous about coming on here, and now I am an addict!
Renda's thread yesterday really made me think about the common bond that many of us share. A love for a people who may not accept our choices, but people that we love just the same....

And it is also refreshing to be able to discuss issues that have, in the past, consumed our lives, without talking to those who still live it (the ones in my family often find it offensive when you question their beliefs, or practices).

You guys are so cool!

plus I work with people all over the country that I am sure I will never meet. conference calls and email are my life.

There are people I work with in this same building, though on different floors, that I only communicate with by email.

Is his tim-ness an NYC resident?

No kidding! Growing up, there were many things that if you dared to question, even in a family setting, the room would just go quiet and you learned to never question those things (to that audience) again... for fear of offending them.

We think you and your hubby are cool too!

What I highlighted in your post above is exactly right and it hurts me when someone questions our motives for being here because we are no longer "in UPC". I hope that some day they will truly understand.

(I keep taking the "h" out of my name when you type it - lol)!

Nope, he doesn't live there... I'm not sure if he has shared publically where he is from but he is here as a visitor as well.
