Now I love shoes (the high-heeled variety), feminine dresses, hankies with lace, and chick flicks--and I STILL love to play a good game of volleyball, or go "muddin'" on a 4 wheeler with my girlfriends if I get half a chance.

Femininity isn't threatened by team sports. It's threatened when women feel they have to act or dress like men in order to measure up. That's something good parenting can thwart.

I know quite a few Apostolic women who wear dresses all the time and have probably never even touched a softball who could learn a few lessons about femininity.

Or are you one of those guys who thinks women who sweat aren't feminine? :)

Oh please back at you. So much for women being of a quiet spirit, huh? :snapout

Notice I said be careful as in be aware, not that they absolutely shouldn't ply sports. I do think some sports I would never let my girl play.

I did have a doctor tell me he wouldn't let his girl play b-ball because so many turn into dikes. So I'm not the only one that's notice this stuff.

Should women be loud and agressive that sports breeds? Does that violate the quiet spirit the bible speaks of??? I'm just askin so don't do the oh please thingy. :friend

Sounds like your doctor got his/her license from a cracker jack box. Sports does not determine one's sexual orientation. Take a look at Sarah Palin!!! She played basketball with a broken bone, helped win the game, and competed in a beauty pageant wearing high heels the same night. I know a woman who was raised in dance classes and was in ballet on toe. Ballet is considered a very feminine dance. Many people think she is somewhat manly. Should I blame that on not having sports or ballet?!?!?!? LOL

I like the "oh please" thingy. It's my way of saying you're full of nonsense. :D

As for a meek and quiet spirit--isn't that an attitude rather than an actual event? I can promise you, when my kids and I get outside and play, none of us are being quiet. Playing games doesn't interfere with meekness. Unless you allow an aggressive, competitive spirit to take over--which IS a temptation, I admit.

Sarah is playing with a homeschooling league this year, and the coach is awesome. They make the girls applaud and cheer for the last person down the court, all of them have to take laps if even one of them disobeys a rule, they pray together after practice, and they emphasize working together without a "star player." Those are valuable lessons to learn, and Sarah's femininity isn't threatened by any of them. Miss Thang in her hot pink Converse tennis shoes couldn't look more girly as she jogs down the court, pink-ribboned ponytail bouncing as she goes. :rolleyes2

Men and women both can get caught up in ungodly, aggressive, competitive "games", in the real world. Men have a commandment to be meek, just as women need to have a quiet spirit.

If having a quiet spirit means to literally "be quiet", then we have a problem. I guess the next time BHILL's wife and I go "muddin'", we'll have to try not to scream with laughter when we get stuck in 2 feet of mud and lose our flip-flops in the muck. Come on. You're being silly, and you know it, TS. Having a good time, loudly or otherwise, is not in contradiction with femininity. Women in the Bible were by turns quiet and bold, depending on the circumstances. Esther risked her life, walking right in to see the king without an invitation. Mary offended quite a few when she washed Jesus' feet. Jael didn't hesitate to drive a stake through the head of the enemy. Deborah rode into battle. Abigail met David and his men with food, beauty and brains to make up for her husband's bad behavior. These women were prized by God, and they were bold and brave--AND feminine.

Perhaps you need to reevaluate your definition of femininity? It's not so much what you do, but how you do it. And being loud or bold isn't masculine, necessarily, although I agree that it can be. There is a time and place for everything--and there's certainly a time for women to play games, laugh, call out their teammates' names, cheer for one another and have an all around good time. ;)

But then...my Daddy took me fishing and taught me to bait my own hook, so I guess I'm warped for life. :coffee2

OH PLEASE is very suitable actually. :)

The bible clearly tells men to study to be quiet so let me throw the questions back at you.

Should MEN be loud and aggressive that sports breeds? Does that violate the "brethren, study to be quiet" that the bible speaks of???

Rediculous! Study to be quiet means study to be meek. The bible says "be angry and sin not." It doesn't say 'be angry and sin not and oh by the way do it quietly.'

By your logic shouldn't that also apply to worship? Thus making the Bible contradict itself. **which is just as dumb as your assesment**

IMO

Whats ridiculous is the opinion that girls shouldn't be involved in sports because it may cause them to be loud and aggressive rather than having a meek and quiet spirit.

If one is going to be so ridiculous in regards to girls then to be consistent one must be equally ridiculous in regards to boys and they shouldn't play sports either!

That was my point! :snapout
