Well, I can tell some of what I'm going through.

Still adjusting from being married 24 years to being single now. I'm a very giving person and not having someone to be with is an adjustment.

My kids are growing up - adjusting to being adults with them instead of mom/child roles (but this is really pretty cool).

My son just got engaged today, so I'm soon to be a dreaded MIL!!!!

That's just the beginning......

Renda! Being a MIL doesn't have to be a bad experience. My DIL and I have a great relationship. We have never had an argument or any kind of trouble since they married.

One of the secrets is not getting over-involved in their lives. I try to be equally supportive to both of them, my son and my DIL and don't pry or get into their personal business.

My son talked to me a bit about some frustration a few weeks ago but I have never said one negative word about his wife since they married. Just try to stay positive and help him and her see the best and encourage them and give advice where it's asked for.

It can be okay, really it can. :) I hope it turns out that way for you.

I'm very excited for him! I hope to start a thread in cafe once I get some pics of him proposing to her today (she was totally unexpectant of the photographer)!!

I will try my best to be the best MIL I can be. Someone just told me a piece of advice I think is great..........you can tell me when you fight, just don't ever tell me what it's over. I can forgive, but I won't forget. I thought that was pretty seasoned.

Big transision upcoming for me though...........I will for real be living alone now.

Congratulations, girl...:happydance

RE transition, I'll share, at least as much as I dare...

The church I was aligned with for almost 24 yrs. split wide open, just 2 weeks after my dad passed.

I was forced to make a change, back into an environment I was no longer familiar with...I had been 'Black' for so long, it was indeed a culture shock, and after 3 1/2 yrs., it still is.

Coupled with that, being almost the primary caregiver is a daily life of transition...

But as Felicity stated, these things are not said for sympathy or anything, but perhaps to encourage someone to keep on keeping on.

I have folks who do that for me, lately on a daily basis it seems, and it helps tremendously to know people understand and care.:)

Well, I haven't been on as much because my plate is becoming more full. We're continuing to grow, I am reading more and when the weather gets nice, I'm just out and about!!! (with the top down)
