Jesus was indwelt and born of the Holy Spirit and then later after His water baptism He was baptized in the Spirit. This follows the Acts 2;38 pattern:
1. Repent or be converted (saved/born again)
2. Be baptized in water
3. Be baptized in the Holy Spirit

Unfortunately, many Apostolics turn baptisms into religious propaganda instead of making it about the person being baptized. They look it as one more person being converted into the church and TRUTH instead of one person starting a brand new life in the Lord Jesus. This is why only a small percentage of folks baptized stick beyond one year or beyond.

Does one need to understand all the fine details to be baptized?

Absolutely not. This is that simplicity that is in Christ. Obey Acts 2:38. Simple.

There is not one ounce of evidence put forth in the Word that lends any credence to making it a complicated situation.

The Bible teaches us that those that received the word gladly were baptized. Simple message...simple response. Everytime.

Brother Sam...my dear friend... :D

I'm so glad that Jesus finally got the Holy Ghost. (tic)

Wonder what took him soooo long? I received my Spirit baptism when I was only seven years old. He finally received his after 30 years of age? Possibly, He was not fully repented until then? (tic)

btw, where does the scriptures say that he was at any point filled with the Spirit? If I rightly recall, He had the Holy Ghost without measure from BIRTH.

Just how unrefined does one need to be to receive baptism? Do they not at least need to know how or why of baptism? If not, just WHAT Word did they gladly received that led them to baptism? Possibly the story of Samson and Delilah, or Daniel in the Lion's Den?

Indeed, I believe in the simplicity of the Gospel...that entails, His death, His burial and His resurrection and our being identified with each facet. Not too many fine details there...just hearing and becoming obedient to the command would be just FINE...speaking of FINE details.

When does forgiveness of sins occur and what washes sins away ?

Forgiveness occur when one turns away from their sin imploring His strenth to overcome them.

The agent that washes away the sin is the blood of Jesus applied to (not to a human being) but the sprinkling of blood in the heavenly tabernacle, effected at any time the element of obedience to the Word of God is present. The blood is in the Word. The Word washes away sin through faith by means of obedience to it.
