Great..then it is the answer then. Whew, glad that is settled. No need to put it off for further study..we have the successful example of the ALJC then as exhibit A.

I am just giving you an example that it can work. The churches I know do not use this as the only form of outreach. It is just a part of the outreaches these churches do. I am not nor have I ever said that tv is the end all of door knocking, meeting in the market place, etc. It is just another type of outreach.

IMHO the reason ALJC constituents have seen little change from the allowance of TV, is because it has not been an issue for so long that they have learned to live "normally" without the constraints.

A personal example, my wife grew up in a home with TV, and I grew up in a home without one. My wife is not effected by TV at all. She can work, sleep, study, etc with a TV blaring constantly and it doesn't effect her, nor distract her. I, on the other hand, could not be in the same room with one without being glued to the thing.

As human beings, it is our nature to push the limits, but the limits/boundaries keep us from going over the edge. When the limits/boundaries are removed, very few people have the internal fortitude to keep from going too far. Thus, because the TV boundary has been in place for so long within the framework of the UPCI, many will see it as a removal of boundaries beyond TV alone.

Excellent thoughts.

I have a copy of the Ministerial Directory and Church Directory for the ALJC for 1978. That's the last year I had license with them. I went through and counted the ministers and came up with the number 378.

I know of some churches who used to be ALJC but are now UPC.
One would be the church in Michigan which used to be pastored by Bishop Parent. Another is the church in Barberton, OH pastored by Bro. Pamer. Another is the church in Cincinnati which was pastored by Bro. Sizemore until his death. The new pastor is UPC so the church is now considered UPC. These are some that I know of.

The 1978 directory listed 161 churches.
