The name does not ring a bell. Do you know what town she lives in or what church she attends?

The words "carnal" and "Sis. Alvear" just don't seem to go together.
They are mutually exclusive.
Even if going to a carnival might seem "carnal," somehow Sis. Alvear and her "kids" sanctified that and made it a wholesome, spiritual experience.

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 10:18 PM

It seems Selmer. Her husband pastors...a small church but very sweet people.

TalkLady 05-13-2007 10:21 PM

I think I met them, Sis. Alvear. Is she a social worker or work in a similar capacity?

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 10:22 PM

Well, I would never take my kids to carnaval...it was just a few rides that some traveling group sit up next to the supermarket...I really don't think any Americans would have rode they were old and run down...but it will be a never forget for my SS kids...they all thanked me over and over and their parents came and thanked me for caring...these kids will mostly never have much a chance in life...they worshipped so good in church tonight and sang for the mothers...so touching. I deeply love them and see in them tomorrows leaders.

I don't think I know them. Selmer UPC, maybe?

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 10:25 PM

Yes, I believe she is...Once I was at their church and the car I was driving had slick tires although I said nothing when I awoke the next morning there was a blank check under my door with a note for me to go buy tires...
They are very kind people...

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 10:33 PM

I think they have an independent Pentecostal Church, but it may be UPC....I think she is a social worker, or some type of housing development worker. Do you know?

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 10:48 PM

I just know she works in an office of some type but cannot remember what she does...So wonderful just to be a part of God's sweet family.

I believe this is the same church we visited several years ago and yes, they were very nice folks!!

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 11:09 PM

Well, mission travels takes us to lots of churches and we meet lots of people..some you never forget...their kindness means so much. Others you feel bonded to from the first service.
I am a people person and it is easy for me to love. I used to know a lot of people in that neck of the woods...
Did you know Brother Pipkin?

TalkLady 05-13-2007 11:10 PM

The name sounds familiar, but I can't recall him specifically.

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 11:12 PM

Today was so sweet so many of our people from all over Brazil called to say, Happy Mother's day...I was so touched by their love.
May the love of Christ be ever upon us and shine through us to this hurting world.

TalkLady 05-13-2007 11:15 PM

Well, here's one last "Happy Mother's Day to You, Sis. Alvear!!

Good night. .....6 am will be here soon and then it will be time to rise and shine for work!!!

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 11:19 PM

Pray for our son he is still with his team in the jungle working...

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 11:20 PM

In fact the team came out of the jungle and found them a telephone to call me to wish me Happy Mother's day...such a sacrifice on their part..

Sister Alvear 05-13-2007 11:23 PM

Please pray for God to send in an offering so they can continue to work up there...remember it is all by faith...and whoever God speaks to about their needs...thanks
