The subways are fabulous midtown to downtown rockets.

Soho can be a nice walk if you find yourself on the lower part of the island visiting the Ground Zero construction site (if you end up on the lower end --Battery Park, the Ferry can be a nice rest-your-legs, use a clean bathroom, cheap, cheap, cheap, boat ride over to Staten Island and just stay on the Ferry and return).

I am hoping to take my daughter to midtown NYC in September. I think Manhatten is a very worthwhile way to consider the diversity and uniqueness of humanity...hope you enjoy your visit.
