I never encountered anti-interracial marriage mentality until fellowshipping within the conservative movement. I've also befriended many moderate and liberal brethren and have never heard such stupidity mentioned amongst them. But couldn't deny or confirm whether all liberals encourage interracial marriage.

well i know the pastors that have been in your circle and this is not there thinking on interracial marriage

Hometown,

How have you been? I wasn't able to attended those services, though I believe those youth services were for ages 12-25?

I only attended evening camp services this year, and evangelism and other vital functions weren't mentioned. Also, within our sectional fellowship meetings, they were never mentioned either.

i have been good. and you?

The services were for all ages. its kinda like a youth convention.

Praise the Lord! Prejudice and racism shouldn't abound in the church, reason being we're a separate people and shouldn't adhere to mentality of the world!

Yes standards should be taught in the normal church service. I personally don't dwell on them, but do teach them. Why would one teach new converts and NOT teach them to the rest of the saints?

Paul said to write the same thing (or say) unto you, for me indeed it is not grevious but for YOU it is SAFE. Would this be like teaching your kids not to play with the electrical socket and then believing that they just got it after the first time? What if you see them playing around the electrical socket with a bobby pin? "Well, I taught them once..." It is safe to teach again.

It is not the same thing by a long shot.

Why preach on TV if everyone but a couple of people already have one? Or even if half do or half don't? The sole result is a sense of superiority from those who are already falling the "standards" toward those who are not. Same thing with pants, make up, etc......

Do it in private. Don't do it for the purpose of causing "embarrassment" to those who are not.

All I remember from my days in church is the smugness from those who followed (at least in public) the laundry list toward those who did not. I remember the "Amen!"'s and "preach it!"'s from those same people during hard "standards" sermons. The satisfied self-smugness toward those who were less holy then them still leaves a taste in my mouth that I cannot get rid of to this day. If I could go back in time I would have a lot more fun with these people then I did then, but I cannot...... (Which is one reason I have fun NOW. Think Jim playing gag after gag on Dwight....)

i have been to some of the same confrences as you and have heard plenty of preaching about winning souls.

Its one thing to preach about it, it's another thing to actually do it. And, I'm not saying these brethren you speak of DON'T win souls, but I have been in many, many meetings where it's preached but not practiced. So, each year the same messages get preached to the same people, and they whoop and holler and "amen" it, and go home and nothing changes.

Just my observations.........

Mother Alvear, tears welled up in my eyes when I read this statement..........you put me to such shame with your efforts for the kingdom. Instead of me praying for you, I would be honored if you would pray for me...................
