We have long hair, short hair (on women) long hair, short hair (on men) pants, make-up, jewelry, beards, clean faces, no jewelry, long sleeves, short sleeves, and in the summer, sometimes..NO sleeves! YIKES! LOL .....know what I think? It lets me know that we are GROWING! A young girl last week told our Pastor's wife "The people of this church love me and they don't even KNOW me....but, I FEEL their love" I was sooo proud of our congregation at that moment!

i think that was "let the redeemed of the Lord dress so" sermon...a great one.

awesome about your church! i have often heard that if someone walked in to the church and EVERYONE looked the same it means that there is no growth. the fact that you have a variety of people means that God is moving!

Don't it just drive you up the wall when someone takes it upons themself to break out their pentecostal rule book and inform some new soul about all the areas in which they are falling short? I preached a message on that once.

i think if someone does that then the new convert ought to be able to analyze them for a few days and offer some areas for "improvement". i was just hot-headed enough to have done that and told one of those "saints" off when i first got in. my best friend that "won" me told everyone "don't u dare say one WORD to her" :) she knew me too well.

Pastors should do the teaching about standards, and God can clean people up.
If people get to Jesus he'll do the cleaning up.

I knew someone like that, he's backslidden now.

It really was very upsetting to see ladies that I had witnessed to, gave bible studies to, saw baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost leave because some sister had pulled them aside to discuss their attire and/or make-up.
It never ceased to amaze me the lack of decorum that some folks had while dealing with new converts.

And don't you love it how proud of themselves people like this are? You can never convince them that what they are doing isn't right or productive. We have a few old ladies left at our church that are like this and everyone tries to keep them away from any newcomers. Sad.

I understand the principle of modesty and such for believers, but people that aren't in Christ need a new birth more than they need the clothes police to size them up.
I have no desire to size up folks and condemn them.
The Holy Ghost will teach a person alot so if folks get in Christ, then He'll begin a work in them.

That demonstrates an appalling lack of wisdom.

It would be unfortunate if his pastor is aware of it and doesn't admonish him regarding this kind of behavior.
