Re: How long would AFF survive if like JP...
I use the name Sam but also include my real name, Jim Ellis.
My web site address is given in my signature so people can find out more about me if they wish. I do not attend a UPC or other Oneness type Church and do not fear being "exposed" for my opinions. My pastor knows that I am from a Oneness Apostolic background. I doubt if my effectiveness in the ministry or in fellowship would be damaged if my posts/opinions were distributed publicly. |
Re: How long would AFF survive if like JP...
I think AFF would survive just fine if real names were required, however there wouldn't be as many members because many people wouldn't register using their real names for privacy or safety reasons.
I use my first name only, because I am female and choose not to use my full name for safety sake. Several of my posts have mentioned my church and pastor's name so if anyone really wanted to know all they have to do is go find it in my posts. I've been a victim of an online stalker (local neighbor) before and choose for that to not happen again. When I feel I know someone well enough online to trust them, I will share more info with them. Otherwise, I think the first name is enough for any type of online communication. |
Re: How long would AFF survive if like JP...
I decided to use my real name ,to keep me from saying or doing anything I might regret later.
I was believer on the old FCF,but when webby asked me to be an admin my cover was blown anyways. |

Re: How long would AFF survive if like JP...
Think about:
* What is your purpose for remaining anonymous? 1. My opinions belong to me and are not a reflection of my church, family and friends. There are people that do know my name here. 2. A friend has a friend has a friend..... 3. I was raised not to ask personal questions of people that have not been offered voluntarily. 4. I also have a circle drawn around my life - have always been a private person - and I only allow those that I want inside my circle to cross that line. I'm very sure I cannot change that aspect of my personality. 5. Being the history of several forums that went debunk in the past, I can walk away and have no attachments that I haven't chosen for myself. 6. I'd hate to call my lawyer for defamation of character. :D :toofunny * Would you post what you are going to post if everyone knew who you were? Yes. * What angers you the most about certain posters,i.e., their personality? An intrusive question. :D I would keep these opinions to myself and possibly only discuss with close friends and not on open Board. We've posted enough where people can be pegged without posting their name. Not going there. *Because they challenge your belief system? It is not the issue of a belief system being critiqued/challenged. It's the manner in which the critique/challenge is being presented. When someone tells me that I'm involved in a "cult" or if someone seems to continually misunderstand my posts and comes at me in a rude and caustic manner, I feel the conversation is boorish and I will generally walk away. The poster loses a degree of respect from me at that point and the conversation can only digress. * Can you love those who disagree with you? Of course, it's Bible. |

My knee-jerk reaction is that when people choose to hide behind a name and try to intimidate another I just think they are just an insecure bully.:nutso Blessings, Rhoni |
Re: How long would AFF survive if like JP...
A number of years back, I posted everything under my own name and now I don't believe what I wrote back then. I wish I could remove my name from all of it. :)
