No, not just you. I initially felt the same way, the first time I observed this juvenile joke, even though I haven't been snagged, myself. (Guilty, a comment on human nature--how we sometimes go along to get along.) Some practical jokes are very low, if not sinful; this one is only temporary small embarassment, I hope!

Irr: Again, per other thread yesterday, it's fairly easy to avoid almost anything you don't like here. You're not likely to change anything, nor anyone.

Choosing to avoid misbehavior rather than attempting to influence it, would be a mistake in my opinion. I may not be unable to change everything, but I just might be able to change something.

I have discovered that when one becomes aware of living out the fruits of the Spirit (goodness, kindness, gentleness) rather than being obsessed with one isolated gift (tongues), we tend to see the REAL impact of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Fair enough. Ambitious goal there, to influence the online misbehavior of a group who all claim to be Christian. Just my hypothesis here--the Holy Spirit works *online* in the context of personal relationships and trust, not through trying to straighten out any group's habits.

I hear ya. But it should be of no surprise and no shame that when any group is conscious of their doctrinal or experiencial distinctives, and a forum is actually *designed* around the celebration of those distinctives, that it would often emphasize those distinctives! Presumably, in a Seventh Day Adventist forum, your mission would be to convince them that that Sabbath keeping isn't necessarily part of the big picture, compared with fruit of the Spirit?

Which implies anything less than what you have in mind is not "REAL" impact! Will you go very far in your mission, using words such as "obsessed?"

You just gave me a great idea!!! I just logged onto www.7thdayadventistfriendsforum.com and testified about the bacon I had for breakfast, and the awesome bbq pork sandwiches I had last night for dinner. I also told them I was excited about church tomorrow.

Bummer....I've been banned.

One of the definitions of "obsessed" is, "to think about something unceasingly or persistently." I see that as a positive.

I know that you and others didn't target an innocent lady. But when my dad taught me to shoot a gun, the first thing he said was, "Don't just concentrate on your target. You always have to think about what else you might hit."

Exactly. Neither am I. It has brought about some laughs at times--But some people just can't resist sinking to the level of using it to insult whoever happens to read the thread they use it in--and because of that, we have complaints about it when it's used at all.

Personally, I wouldn't be upset if the little "toy" was permanently deactivated. Unfortunately, it's not my call-- and I'd blow up the forum if I tried to deactivate it.
