Well, yes - the whole book is great - it's one of my favourite OT books, but I was talking specifically about weather, the forces of nature and God's sovereign rulership over it. They must bow and yield to God's command.

If God says to the wind, "Peace, be still", it WILL be still! You can count on it. On the other hand if He speaks to the wind and says "BLOW!", it will blow.

Simple. :)

But is every shower and sprinkle of rain, every lightning bolt, every star falling or drought happening because God spoke specifically and commanded it to happen specifically? No.

Just saying that He CAN speak specifically and change things in the atmosphere - including weather patterns, if it suits His purpose one way or another.

Seems simple enough to me.

You guys realize that such poetic usage is not always to be taken literally to mean God causes every storm?

Is the earth really built on a pillar?
Job 9:6 Which shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.

A giant nose?
Job 4:9 By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.

God Breathes fire from his nose? HE rides on a cherub?

Psa 18:7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
Psa 18:8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
Psa 18:9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
Psa 18:10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.

These are anthropomorphisms

Psalms 148:1 - 14 (KJV)
1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise ye the LORD from the heavens: praise him in the heights.

2 Praise ye him, all his angels: praise ye him, all his hosts.

3 Praise ye him, sun and moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.

4 Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

5 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for he commanded, and they were created.

6 He hath also stablished them for ever and ever: he hath made a decree which shall not pass.

7 Praise the LORD from the earth, ye dragons, and all deeps:

8 Fire, and hail; snow, and vapour; stormy wind fulfilling his word:

9 Mountains, and all hills; fruitful trees, and all cedars:

10 Beasts, and all cattle; creeping things, and flying fowl:

11 Kings of the earth, and all people; princes, and all judges of the earth:

12 Both young men, and maidens; old men, and children:

13 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.

14 He also exalteth the horn of his people, the praise of all his saints; even of the children of Israel, a people near unto him. Praise ye the LORD.
Storm or calm, He's worthy of our praise!!!!!!!

I have heard Bro. Billy Cole say that oft times when God is going to move mightily in a service a storm in the nature will first be felt. Rain, winds, etc.

I believe God is in total control.

I agree there is a set pattern for things to run in a nature realm, however, I also agree God in in total control and will and has interupted nature to do His bidding.

I believe the flood was His doing, for His purpose.

I don't know how He destroy Sodom and Gorrmah with firey hail, but He did.

I believe there are major hurricanes of His doing, His direction.

I just simply believe God in still in controll of all of nature.

He tells us in His Word there will be many earthquakes in the end time and there are.

I don't think anyone is saying God isn't still in control of all things, in the sense that He retains the privilege and authority to change things as He wills, just because they are also saying God does not necessarily cause all storms or calamities to occur.

The whole book of Job.

Job's world came crashing down around him - even though he did everything "right." He worked hard and honestly, but then he was robbed of everything. So we ask, what's the point in working hard and being honest if something like that can happen to you?

Job prayed for his children and offered sacrifices in their behalf. Yet his children were all killed together in a single day. And so we ask, what's the point in praying or what's the point in raising our children correctly?

Job said that the world "hangs on nothing..."

God says, "No. The world has foundations and pillars. I set them. You just didn't happen to be there when I did."

And so today, we look at our world floating in space, seemingly without a foundation or supporting pillars, and we ask, "What's the point?" That's the test of our faith.

Some days especially it is - yes!
