We are still under a tornado watch here. The radar doesn't look real bad near us, but there are some areas of storms not far from here. My daughter is about to leave work on her way home.

We had been under a tornado watch-- but they hadn't given much detail on the radio stations. They never do give a lot of info here unless things start happening.

I'm just thankful that so much technology is available. At least we can have some warning something like this is coming and have time to get to a safe place.

I'd been following the coverage on the internet TV website, and just before we left for church-- they had said there was a tornado that would pass through the area at a certain time. We got to church... and had been there less than 10 minutes when the worst of it passed over.

We still had a great service at church though. The pastor says he wishes we could have Bro Winslow come to preach three or four times a year. :D

*Man, I know I'm not used to being up trying to type at this hour. I went back to proofread this and had left out three words. LOL

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The number killed in a deadly Southern storm climbed to 26 early Wednesday with the confirmation that four people were killed by severe storms moving through the county northwest of Nashhville.

Besides the four, several were injured, said Angela Alexander, spokeswoman for Sumner Regional Medical Center.

The total number dead included 11 in Arkansas, 12 in Tennessee, and three in Kentucky. Storms also slammed Mississippi.

We need to remember the families of those 26 in prayer. This is a hard time for them. Some of them may be left with nothing due to the storm and now the death of a loved one.

LORD, be comfort these people...

Mark,

They had predicted really bad storms the day before. Yesterday the schools in MS and Memphis City closed at 12:30 expecting the storms. However, the "surprise" of it was they just popped up out of nowhere around 5:00 p.m. There wasn't a "line" of storms to watch - they just developed everywhere as they predicted.

The devastation at the dorms of Union University is unreal - - a miracle of God no one was killed or injured too badly.

More storms today, but not as severe. Thanks everyone for the prayers - - there are families that are hurting this morning.

Also, I'm sure Sherri's church will be able to reach out the the community so we need to pray for them as they offer their Love and Truth to those needing help.

Well, in the light of day, things will really look different here in Jackson! Eddie is at the church and he called and said that the power is back on, which is amazing. So I'm going to head out there in a minute. The church, being only a couple blocks from Union, is a miracle that it's not hurt.

Union student's parents are coming in by the droves today to pick up their kids. The dorms look terrible! I feel sorry for the kids who are from overseas; there are a lot of international students there.

Thank the Lord everyone we know is safe. Zac called last night and said that one of his best friends (from Savannah) was talking to his grandpa on the phone when it went dead as the tornado hit. The grandpa was killed. So please pray for that family.

Oh Sherri, how terrible.

I'm sure there will be a lot of chances for ministry in the next few weeks in your area!

We just found out that a new family from our church lost their house - completely destroyed. We are trying to find out more info now to see what we can do. We are also getting involved with the Red Cross relief that is being set up right across the street from us. This is just like what we went through a couple years ago, only much worse.

I'm posting a link to WMC-TV. Their helicopter flew to Jackson and have taped live shots of the devastation in that area.

There's already a lot of video and pictures on this link too.

As I woke up this morning, I thought of all of you that lived in those areas that the storms hit last night. I logged on this morning and saw that everyone made it through last night and I was so very thankful.

I have been in a couple of tornadoes and I knew how frightening that experience was and I knew that God had his protective hand on me. Thank God that you were all protective by Him too.

Union University President is giving a press conference now (man in red jacket on the video screen). He said 40% of the dorms were destroyed - 40% heavily damaged.

No deaths at the University.

A true miracle.

Sherri, I thought about you guys and prayed for you last night when I heard about the tornadoes in Jackson. My brother and his wife both graduated from Union University in the late 80's.

According to radar on TV, a funnel cloud went right over my house last night! Mrs. Pianoman was pretty scared! (I was too! ha!)

I'm glad to hear that you're safe and the church is OK!

Re: Tornado Warning - Sirens Going OFF

Sharon Baptist Church, which is about 10 miles from me, was destroyed. We had tornadoes coming from every direction last night.

Tabo called me this morning from school and said they were on their way to their basement. She said that her dorm is one of the only ones on their campus that has a basement. The sirens were going off in Cleveland because there was a tornado on the ground seven minutes from the school. Luckily they didn't have any damage at their school.

I got out at noon and finally drove by Union on the Bypass, but they will not let anyone get close. They are just now finally letting students back on campus, a few at a time to see what is left of their stuff and to see if their cars are driveable.

I just saw one of our UU students and she said she was in the dorm bathroom with it hit, but her dorm was one of the ones that was left standing. I took a picture as I went by, but I don't think it turned out; they won't let you slow down at all. I did take a picture of my bank in front of the University, and I'll try to post it later.

I tried to go by Lighthouse UPC from the other direction but the cops are diverting traffic and you can't get anywhere close.

Paul emailed me pics of the bank earlier today. It looks like a bomb went off in there.
