Propane is a lot more expensive here...where we produce it, for some reason. I use very little it since I only have a stove that uses it for the most part. I have a 500 gallon tank which I filled to 80% capacity two years ago. It's still about 55% full.

I have both central air and central heat. But, I don't use the central heat since it is electricity and that is now up to .13c per KWH. With as large of a house as we have, it is quite expensive to run in the winter time. So, I use this fireplace and about one cord of firewood per year which I spend $100. already cut and split. I have to go get it, however. At night, for just one bedroom with no one here but the wifee and me, we use a little elect heater at night. Though it may be freezing in the house when we wake up, it does not take too long before we have a big fire in the FP.

In the Summer time, we now use window units and only turn on the units in the rooms that are in use. For instance, we close all bedroom doors and such like and turn on the a/c window units where we are living. I brought down our elect bill by about 1/3 or more in this manner.

You are already my hero. And I have her number and she has mine. We talk almost every night. I think somethings in the works, but don't tell her I said so.
