I don't find where the Lord reached for the harlot while she was turning a trick or for the adulterer while he was finishing his business with the lady on the next block.

Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What better place would there be for it? During another church's broascast? During Sesame Street? Mister Rogers' neighborhood?

Who exactly are we looking to reach? "Good, moral people" who think they're ok, or people who are sinners and know it?

I'd call it "contrast"...not 'promotion' of sinful lifestyles. Throw some light in the midst of that darkness. Throw some God's Love in the midst of that despression and bondage! What better place is there for some light than a dark room? Makes perfect sense to me.

Honestly, I doubt any network or cable company would take your church ad and put in those kinds of shows anyway...

Neither do I find such.

Your point is?

Do you think the Lord went about building and protecting his sterling reputation?

I understand that some consider themselves too holy to reach for the lost right in the midst of a steamy hot sexually explicit movie.

I hardly know what to think of those who do not want to get their little short, dwarf type arm with the least smudge of dirt on it. Surely Jesus would not have eaten with the harlots and the wicked to reach them, now would he?

Does that answer your question?

First I need to affirm what "the DA" said,

"Clearly the former statement from the AOF shows disapproval ... and not prohibition ..... The latter is a clear prohibition for ministers only."

Second, I am puzzled as to what this means concerning the majority in the UPC who have and watch TV, myself NOT included. In the twenty plus years I have been attending a UPC church I have yet to recieve any written instruction, recommendation, mandate concerning television.

Lastly, KP do not mistake my comments as being pro television en toto. The same people who say they "don't have time" and funds to bear and raise offspring often spend untold hours absorbing junk. We live in a selfish age.

So, I am assuming that you guys would be in favor of putting an ad for your church on a billboard in a brothel?

Bro Ron,

I believe that we may be out numbered on this issue, but I very often feel that we may be missing our best chance to salvage our nation unless we do all we can to reach our world. But to give you an honest confession, I have wavered in my opinions though I cannot logically give an argument to the contrary.

I just pray that our leaders will truly submit to the leading of the Holy Ghost. There never has been a time that we've needed such leadership as we needed it now. It is time to dispense with emotions, opinions, popular demand, 2/3rds majority vote, decisons of committes and politics. It is time that leaders are truly led of the Holy Ghost. The outcome of our nation whether fair or ill, rests upon their shoulders....as I see it.

DA is correct that the articles of faith do not give a prohibition for saints, and there is a reason -- the AOF have no authority OVER the saints. The UPCI is a ministers' organization. It is clear, however, that when an organization "wholeheartedly disapproves" of an activity, they want its members (the ministers -- who ARE under the prohibition against television) to establish that prohibition for THEIR members (the saints).

As to your second question, I, too, am puzzled. The biannual affirmation statement clearly states that I, as a member of the UPCI will abide by AND PREACH what is in the Articles of Faith. How men can sign this and then not do what they pledge to do is beyond me. As harsh as it sounds, I call that LYING.

Lastly, I make no assumptions concerning your personal feelings on the subject. I was simply trying to answer your question.

Sure.

And a bar...

And a crack house...

You take the folks that have it all together and we'll take the ones that are steeped in bondage and sin...
