Nobody, but nobody could sing like Jimmy Swaggart back in the day. His voice, his style, and the songs he sang... boy, howdy. That was Gospel. I still have some of his old LPs. Still listen to them from time to time. "Down the Sawdust Trial", " Send the Light", "Let the lower lights be burning" Great music.

My wife and I were coming home from Indiana where I was raised and we heard Bucky Covington singing "A Different World" It was so fitting to hear that song. This was the first time I got to take my wife to my hometown. Right after we got home is when she took sick. The song reminded us both of our trip there and holds a special place in our hearts.

"Ooh ooh hoo, I wanna Be Like You-o-hoo" from the Jungle Book!!!!

*This was pre-TV days in our family and I was the entertainment as I had all of the LPs memorized and had to perform for family and guests* There is a picture in the family archives of me dancing and singing...with my zipper down, embarassing now.

"Climb Every Mountain..." or

"Somewhere Over the Rainbow..." or

"I did it My Way..." or maybe

"Itsy, Bitsy, Teeny, Weeny, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini..." or maybe NOT!

That one popped into my head really quickly... However me and my Dad would listen and sing along to all of BJ Thomas' gospel 8 tracks and cassetes... He had some great gospel songs...

Also anything John Denver..

Rocky Mountain High
Country Roads
Grandma's Feather Bed
Thank God I'm a Country Boy
Sweet Surrender
Leaving on a Jet Plane

We learned all of those in school..
