Thank you for sharing the pictures.....it really made the situation more real.
I took a reality check this morning....I am blessed to have my health...and the abiltiy to go to church. Something I feel sometimes I take for granted.
As for the woman...Only God can decide whether someone is saved. But I know we serve a merciful God! May God bless her and bless the Alvear's for doing the best to get her ready to meet the Lord.

That´s the way I feel...only God can decide who is saved and who is not saved...He is tender and merciful far beyond what we could ever understand...

I am a firm believer in water baptism being "ducked" under...however her case is in the hands of the Lord...I sat down and explained water baptism to her along with the pastor and Sister Janet had already explained to her also...
However like I said we did what we could...if God accepts it I do not know for I am not Him...I would say he accepts it far more than some foolish things that are preached as doctrines...

Sister Alvear what a touching story of this lady. I have no doubt that the very same Jesus who, according to Luke 23, granted grace and mercy to a common thief dying with him on the cross and said, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.", will show this dear lady no less. He's no respector of persons and will in no way cast out those who come to him.

Bless you for the truly life and death matters of work that you and your family have undertaken.

Here something I found they may help!

Apostolic period

Main article: Apostolic Age

Baptism was typically by immersion, pouring water on someone standing in a stream or pool.[2]

The Didache or Teaching of the Twelve Apostles, an anonymous book of 16 short chapters, is probably the earliest known written instructions, outside of the Bible, for administering baptism. Most scholars date it to about the year 100.[28] It indicates a preference for baptizing in "living" (i.e. running, as in a river or stream) water at its natural temperature, but considers that, if necessary, it is enough to pour water of any kind on the head: "Concerning baptism, baptize this way: Having first said all these things, baptize into the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in living water. But if you have no living water, baptize into other water; and if you cannot do so in cold water, do so in warm. But if you have neither, pour out water three times upon the head into the name of Father and Son and Holy Spirit."[29]

In imitation of the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan, early Christians preferred rivers for performing baptisms, and this was also suitable for the baptism of large crowds.[30] Since rivers were not available everywhere, some important writers of the second and third centuries (Justin, Clement, Victor I, and Tertullian) remarked that seas, lakes, ponds and springs are equally proper baptismal sites.[30]

Baptism has been in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit since at least the end of the 1st century.[9] While Acts speaks of baptism in Jesus' name, whether that formula was ever used has been questioned.[9]

The tradition of infant baptism is nowhere clearly stated in the 1st century.

Early Christianity

Early Christian beliefs regarding baptism were variable.[2] In the most usual form of early Christian baptism, the candidate stood in water and water was poured over the upper body.[2]The theology of baptism attained precision in the 3rd and 4th centuries.[2]

I think you've done right!

What do you think the preacher should do?

On the faith of the dying person, baptize them anyway that is available even if the water is not that deep. God will honor their faith.

I am a firm believer in dipping people INTO and covering then in water...I am not in anyway saying this is the right thing to do but it was all I could do at that moment...that is the first time I have ever rubbed anyone down with water but that is all I knew to do...I hope the Lord performs a miracle and we can baptize her in our tank...if He don´t I did all I knew to do...and no it is not in the Bible...but mercy is.
