And please, will someone tell me what water and spirit doctrine is? Thats a new one for me.

From what I have gathered it is the belief that John 3:5 speaks of water baptism and Spirit baptism as being required to enter the kingdom of God.

That is the traditional 3 step view .... essentially that obeying Acts 2:38 is what is meant in John 3:3.

Essentially, that one experiences and obtains the New Birth through water baptism and Spirit baptism.

A handful of Trinnies ... like Church of Christ ... hold the Water and Spirt view of the New Birth too ... while not insisting that the Triune formula is salvific but that water baptism means being born of the water.

Promise your saints Cadillacs if they give everything.
Tell them to mortgage their home and tap out their investment accounts to pay for your building project.

Not that it matters.... and I am not a pastor, but if I were I would not want my church affiliated.

that has nothing to do with being liberal/conservative or anything in between.

It can have financial ramifications ... and district power and influence can be exerted during the transition of pastors.

What men? :ursofunny

I'd imagine they may be varied; an ecclective assortment of Pentecostal/Charismatic theologies concerning the Spirit that range from Bapticostal's Second Blessing, to a more dimensional approach to the Spirit.

I'd also assume none of them agree with the official standards that most create as their trademark either.

Speculating what 'they' believe, and who 'they' are. lol

p.s. 'They' are split on the tithing issue.

I dunno...

I haven't spoken to any of these guys for years... assuming I've matched up the initials correctly, and some of them I don't even know. But...

If JK leaves the UPC or even begins to to try and undo some of the damage done by the older generation, then the circle would be almost complete. Because our fathers ate sour grapes it doesn't mean that our teeth have to be set on edge for the rest of our lives (Ezekiel 18).
