Produce fruit that is consistent with being converted. It said fruit not root. One comes from the other.

I think that some OP's make the error in believing that the "fruit" IS the repentance.

If Jesus is the root then love is the fruit! Being a lover of self more than a lover of God is not a fruit of The Spirit.
