How was your mother's day service?

Ours lasted almost 4 hours...typical here...it was awesome...we had skits, poems, special songs, presents and lots of the power of God. We sang about our mothers that have made it on home and put a white flower in a vase to represent them before it was over we had a nice vase of flowers..so pretty and touching...
One of oue sisters spoke about Hannah's prayer and told how God saved her son from death.
Brother Alvear sang a song and gave encouraging words to the church mothers...
The young people sang a beautiful son about mothers...It was one of those services we both laughed and cried...beautiful...so beautiful

The Brazilians are such sweet people and do everything with such a passion...

The worship/congregational singing seemed better and more anointed than usual.

All women who were mothers/grandmothers received a token gift. These gifts were handed out by the youth group.

Pastor preached on 2 Tim 1:5 about the role of mothers, grandmothers, step mothers, foster mothers, and all those in nurturing positions and their influence on those placed in their care. He spoke about the difference between just being able to give birth to a baby and being a real mother.l

Pastor had a group of us line up at the altar facing the congregation. Then he had all the grandmothers come up to us and we prayed for them.

Then he had all the grandmothers turn around and face the congregation and had all the mothers come up and receive prayer from the grandmothers.

It was a good service.

I had work today but my wife said the service went pretty well ,we didn't have an evening service tonight ,due to mother's day.

Great...

We are "pastor-shopping" at the moment and the one that was there this weekend sure seemed like a keeper to me.

Most of the main musical talent was out of town so we were winging it with what we had. I had been feeling like doing "Trading My Sorrows" and the musicians we practiced with Saturday just couldn't do it.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons from some pentecostal ladies for a few years and it just so happened that she has been working on that very song lately. We practiced Sunday afternoon and she played the keyboard and the visiting preachers son played the drums and... friends... it was fantastic.

I was blown away at how it all turned out. We came with plans of, in spite of the talent we normally depend so much on being out of town, just jumping in there and giving our all and the Lord was certainly good and made our feeble offering a good thing.

I was glad too because I didn't want us to have any less to give in worship to support the visiting preacher. Both services (beginning first & foremost with the good preaching) were just top notch.

D4T - pretty cool how God just jumps in there with you and helps out, huh?

Glad to hear all went well!

Indeed it is...

Just goes to show again... we never give anything to Him that he didn't give to us first.

Our talent
Our strength
Our finances

All that we can offer Him is only making its way back to the source.

Thank God from whom all blessings flow.

I woke up early this morning as I usually do ..... thinking about yesterday's service and how great it was. We had a wonderful service! From the very first song there was an awesome spirit of worship and freedom. We can feel things changing here since when we first arrived. It's been slow and it's been a challenge but there's a difference in the atmosphere and we're believing for good things!

Had some first time visitors in the service. One lady who I was introduced to after the service in the foyer had been on her way to the Superstore when she noticed our church. She hadn't been planning on going to church, but she decided on a whim to check it out. She told us that she loved the service, the music and the worship and that she wants to get involved with the womens ministry. LOL! Someone who wants to get involved! Yay! :D I don't even know yet for sure what her background is or her experience with God is. But we'll find out. She's very enthusiastic.

There were other first time visitors as well. We generally have visitors every service.

One of the highlights ... for me anyhow ... was the announcement that my husband made stating that we have 95 new people attending our church now (excluding children) who weren't coming when we arrived here. We've had some leave too of course. Some have moved away and some have left in search of greener pastures. I hope they find them. Hehe. ;) :D

He also announced that the Hindi-English group in our church is also growing and next Sunday evening they will baptize 10! This is awesome!

We had communion (we have communion here the 2nd Sunday of the month) and then my son sang the song (by request of his dad) that he recorded and sent me on Sat. evening and the women loved it. I sat there and cried - again. :)

Then my husband preached a really great Mothers Day message and afterward all the ladies received carnations and a set of coasters. It was really a great service. Just so thankful for what God is doing! He has a plan! :thumbsup
