Date from the internet

How common is this now days? Do alot of people meet, date and end up getting married from meeting on the internet?

My friend just got married from some asian girl and is really happy.

I have known 2 apostolic women who did this. One was a young lady from my church. She doesnt seem so happy many months down the road but the other lady who is more elderly has been married about 10 yrs and still is very much happy.

Im sure it works but I would be very cautious simply because you may not have had time enough with that person in life situations to really know how they are. I guess that could be said with people we have known for yrs too.

I know of three couples who met on the internet, and later got married. All three couples seem to be very happy.

I met my wife online -on probably the worst "dating" site that I ever used, and then only briefly. After using a couple of much better ones (such as eHarmony and ChristianCafe.com) I logged on to love.com (owned by AOL at the time and which has long since changed) which turned out to be a gay and lesbian and porno bot, love fest. Turns out me -and my future wife, were about the only normal ones there!
Just shows that God has a sense of humor.

My brother and I both met spouses on the internet. The breakups that eventually happened had nothing to do with meeting on the internet.

No longer are we forced to date the person sitting three pews down from us. :)

I think it might be a good way to meet people, but for a serious relationship you really do need to spend some time with each other and around other people.

The Internet is just another bulletin board in the community, and a pretty amazing bulletin board. But it's no replacement for the basics in any developing relationship.

This is usually the way it goes after meeting on the internet. For instance, I lived only 2 hours from my husband when we 'met', and spent a lot of time together as well as on the phone for a year before getting married.

I don't think it's a good idea to meet on the internet and get married a week later, for instance. That's stupidity (although some have done it successfully, but it's rare).

My wife lived two hours South of me. We met two weeks after meeting -and were married barely 5 months later. :)

There were a couple that used to hang around that were engaged before they ever met in person.

Not in a hurry, were you? LOL!

Actually, this happens with people who even meet in church, so I don't think it's any different, really.

I've heard of people meeting for the first time in a mutual place and being married a week later, and stayed married and faithful. It can happen with or without the internet.

This is difficult to assume though, since the entire relationship was due to internet dating... kinda confusing.

Not really. That's just how we met. We dated in person.....LOL!

The same with my brother and his ex-wife.

My sister met her husband online. They both lived in Knoxville and while they were still in the "internet stage" she told him that he better not shoot her a line of ........ because she could find out anything she wanted to know about him. She works for the K'ville police department. ;)

They've been married nearly five years and they're doing great.

Well, I can't say I've had any better luck in meeting someone in "real life", but the whole internet dating thing scares the life out of me. Too many crazy people out there!!!

I know of some who have had sucess at it, and others who haven't. Pretty much just like "real life".
