Holy Ghost on Wednesday Night

Well, we had a powerful service tonight and it just went on and on because no one would leave. Parents had to go get their kids and then they started coming back into the sanctuary with them, because no one wanted to miss what was happening. Eddie taught the most powerful lesson on worship and then we started singing, and the glory of God just came into the room.

One gal by me got the Holy Ghost, and didn't even know what it was. She's been totally away from God and had just started recently back to church. I don't know what her background is, but she didn't know what "tongues" was, until it happened to her. I think she's going to get baptized soon.

The power of God was so HEAVY, it felt like a weight in the room. I love it when God's Spirit sweeps in like that!

Our Wednesday night services are well attended, because the church people know that Wed. nights are all-out powerful times of God's presence. That's the night that we are just wide open to whatever God wants and it's my favorite service!

I know what you meant by that-- but it just struck me as funny the way it was worded I guess.

Our church is wide open to what God wants every time we are there. Visitors never know what to expect-- and I haven't heard of us scaring anyone so badly that they didn't come back. ;)

I can't remember if I mentioned it or not-- but our pastor recently appointed someone to fill the position of youth pastor. The first "youth service" there were about 40 in attendance-- and three first time visitors received the holy ghost. (Those same three haven't missed a service since that time) On the second week in the youth service... there were 80 in attendance. Some received the holy ghost that night also.

I'm looking forward to the next youth service. I'm not what you'd consider "youth" anymore since I'll be turning 40 this year... but I get such a blessing out of seeing what God is doing in those services that I don't want to miss the service myself! I think the youth pastor likes when some of the "older" bunch shows up for support. ;)

Ok, I'm somewhat of a bumpkin when it comes to some things so I gotta ask, what on earth is "Shockamoo" and CC ?

:lol

"Shockamoo" is dancing and rejoicing in the Holy Ghost.

"CC" is Christ Church in Nashville. It's a large church that runs over 5,000 people per Sunday.

That being said, I'm sure that the Cupple's church is different than CC when it comes to shockamoo. We do have a few folks jump up and down on rare occasion, but that's as far as it goes! :)

Thank you for taking CC1's place, but you failed to mention that Eddie still has facial hair, so it probably couldn't have been real. :toofunny

I'm curious about this, I had someone use that term with me the other day, who as far as I know is not on the forum? Did the term originate on this or the previous forum?

If so, hmmmm, someone must be lurking or very well disguised!!!

It was on the last forum, or even the one before that. It's been around a long time. I don't know if it originated with the forum; it could have been used before, I just had never heard it until FCF.

I typed in "Shockamoo" in Google. Someone has entered it in the "Urban Dictionary" with the definition being:

In a Pentecostal church-to dance and jump and get down before the LORD

The sentence given using it in a sentence at the "Urban Dictionary" site:

Mark felt God's blessing and shockamooed all over the church house!
THEOPHIL is mentioned January 18, 2008
