Painting idea...
This brainstorm idea I have going on in my head is a painting of the bridegrrom coming for his bride or rather the 10 Virgins story.
Now, update the sceanery to our custom of dress and what would each of the virgins be doing...like our daily work, chores, hobbies....what will (we) be doing when Jesus comes? Remember, 5 were wise and 5 are foolish. Got any ideas? :tvhappy:happyfamily:rooting:girlnails:boomm:preac h:bow:bedtime:exercise::digging:swoon:naughty:ty ok...that's all the smilies I could find...LOL |
Re: Painting idea...
I LOVE this idea! GOT to have one sitting a desk working on the computer WITH a cellphone or bluetooth in her ear! Wait! That is MY life....I need to "tighten up" as my hubby would say! Of course the wise could be praying, reading The Word, doing a ONE on ONE Bible Study.
Good luck! Are YOU going to paint this? What is your medium? Oil, Acrylic, Watercolor? I have been taking lessons for a year and STILL am just soooooo BEGINNER status! Beth in KY |
Re: Painting idea...
ok...I reread Matt. 25:1-13 again.
It says in verse 1, they went out to meet the bridegroom. Where or what is the place they went out to meet him? The chambers? The bridel room? The alter? I noticed that in a regular wedding, the groom is waiting at the alter for the bride to appear. In the parable of the 10 virgins, the virgins are waiting for the bridegroom to appear. Verse 6- the midnight cry rang out...they were told to come out and meet him. At verse 10- while the 5 foolish virgins were out buying oil, (because apparently there was a laps of time between the midnight cry and the arrival of the groom,) they, the 5 wise, went in with him to the wedding banquet. So, now, I have to decide whether to have the virgins dressed in brides clothes or regular clothes. And I see a different oil lamp with each woman too. They also had jars to carry the extra oil in. So, I'm tring to picture all this. I just need someone to answer verse 1 of Matt. 25 for me. I'm not quite understanding it. I know the virgins represent the church/ the bride of Christ. I'm not sure what each of the 10 women represent....maybe the different gifts of ministy in the body/church?...I'm thinking as I tap....LOL... And the extra oil, to me means, worship/relationship with Jesus. In any relationship, it takes a willingness to work at it and keep it flowing/or filled. Amen! |

Re: Painting idea...
I have searched and can't find anything that indicates what "going out" to meet the bridegroom means. But, I had a thought about the oil in the lamps. Since the oil represents relationship, my mind STILL is going to things that get in the WAY of relationship with Him. Ex: Daily life- cell phones, laptops, etc.
Your idea is there.....maybe you need to NOT think about it for a while and then it will just "happen"! That's what happens with me! Of course, then again, that MAY not be a good thing! LOL Beth |
Re: Painting idea...
Your too funny Beth!
:D |
Re: Painting idea...
How about a "divided" scene with the foolish virgins on one side of the door and the wise on the other at the wedding feast? Just another idea. I'm sitting at my desk and SHOULD be researching some things for a musical we are going to do this summer, but, my AADD has kicked in and I've gone from painting to cake decorating to Survivor Babylon and now I'm back to painting! LOL YIKES! I've got to cut down on the caffeine!

Re: Painting idea...
That's a great idea, Beth!
I had also thought of a scene with them all slumbering and sleeping. BTW, what is the difference between slumber and sleep? Patty |
Re: Painting idea...
According to Strong's concordance they both mean to sleep. The word for slumber also means to nod...so I'm wondering if it means some were nodding off to sleep and some were actually asleep. Again, by definition both words mean to sleep.
By the way, I like this idea too! How long do you anticipate it will take start to finish? Beth |
Re: Painting idea...
You're right. But I'm also looking at how to incorporate "sleep" in a spiritual sense too.
Such as; neglect, weariness, good for nothing, idleness, inactive, etc.... All were caught sleeping. We can, for instance, fall aleep reading the bible as well as show lack if interest to do "anything" anywhere. We can get so caught up in the everyday affairs of this life and forget to....well, fill in the blank. Everyone can think of something they should do but just can't seem to fit it into their time schedule. We are all guilty of that from time to time.:kickcan I'm acually doing rough drafts of different pieces in the scenes. I have 2 different scenes that I'm working on. How long you ask?! :reaction LOL |
