TBN Numerology

Every time I turn on TBN and see one of these big name evangelist I can not help but think of numerology. I wonder if these guys studied the Kabbalah.

If you have ever watched and listened you know what I mean. "2007 is your year of harvest if you so an uncommon seed because 7 is God's number of completeness"

I am confronted over and over again a gospel message based on some special nuance of the number in a year or month or even an amount to be given and promises based on that. Or claiming God told this preacher to tell everyone to give 29,290 or 2,900 dollars based on a reading of Psalms 2:9 or something like that.

This is usually when I see it the most too haha....I'd watch Donnie though and I hope Bishop Long does not get into that stuff. If they just preached a regular sermon on faith and believing I'd be more likely to give that what I usually hear out of them

Yeah but faith doesn't pay the bills

Neither does flapping your gums. They pay their bills based on those that give. I bet more would be willing to give if they preached a message that makes people realize the value of TBN rather than conning them into thinking if they gave x amount based on a magical number they would become rich

My response was very much sarcastic. I do not agree with their prosperity preaching and what they do to support the "Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous"

They turn such a humongous profit, that paying the bills should not even be a part of any serious conversation.

True...and if they really have the faith they claim why not empty their pockets of a few hundred thousand to pay the bills and expect God to reimburse them and they just preach a good message on faith

Re: TBN Numerology

My problem with the whole prosperity message is that it only appeals to those who don't have anything. How embarrassing to have the affluent listening to a church and hearing "us" talk about what they have already attained as if that is all we have to offer. What does the extremely weathy person who has the houses and cars but is absolutely dead on the inside, do? What do they do when there is something telling them that there has to be more out there than what this preacher is selling to all the broke people? They turn to Scientology and Kabala and anything else that seems to be offering something more.

Exactly. Jesus came for the matters of the heart...to a lost and sin sick world to redeem them. The rich need to understand as much as anyone that they are lost sinners and neec Christ

At our church we stress that you should pray as if everything depends on God, but work as if everything depends on you. There are just some things in life that you work for and some things that you pray for. A fulfilled life is one that has plenty of both.

Don't know how true it is, but a high profile evangelist announced on radio that TBN had 500 Million in the bank.

2007 has no bearing on anything because the calendar is off. Jesus was born about 6 B.C., making 2,007 years after his birth to be 2001. Already gone by!

Right, but the point is how they use numbers to declare this is you season to be blessed...as if it depends on numbers

Yeah. How about 2007 meaning it is the perfect year for problems?
