Fasting and hypoglycemia.

Okay, any tips on how to fast with hypoglycemia? All my searches turn out "fasting hypoglycemia". No help there. :)

Don't do a complete fast - do a partial, such as the Daniel Fast or something similiar....

I was thinking maybe a juice fast, but that would go against doc orders. I was told to keep away from processed sugars, and even to avoid natural sugars such as those in fruit.

Diabetics and fasting can be a dangerous mix. My suggestion would be to do some serious praying before going into any complete fast.

It can be done... just need to consult your dr first and find out what kind he recommends.

My mother was a severe diabetic and she at dr recommendation was even able to do a complete food fast for 3 months. It was liquid diet only. It was very successful and she lost 100 lbs... it was not for the same reasons as Berk ask but my mothers dr said this is a lot of time what they recommend for people asking for spiritual reasons also. Your Dr will know Berk.

And this is not aimed at no one but Berk. Do not let anyone discourage you from doing this. If you feel it needs to be done your dr can advise you on something that will be safe for you to do.

The link above also has info on: Hypoglycemia in People Who Do Not Have Diabetes

I would consult my dr about fasting.
My husband is type II diabetic. He no longer has to take meds but monitors his blood glucose level closely.

Would likewise agree check with Dr. and if feel extended fast be sure you are doing for right reasons.

I'm type II, with oral and insulin. I felt moved last year to go on 40 day water only fast. Told Dr I would monitor regularly. After second week was totally without meds and bs stayed around 104 the next four weeks.

As has been echoed here, it can be done, but it needs to be under doctor supervision if an extended fast and you are not used to it.
