Minor Earthquake!!
Gang, we just had a minor earthquake here. The whole house was shaking for about 20-30 seconds. It scared the heebie jeebies out of my son and my wife. There is no damage to the house that I know of. There are a lot of really old houses around here. I hope no one has been injured. I turned my scanner on and will keep y'all posted.

Re: Minor Earthquake!!
It woke people up as far away as Wabash, Indiana too. There's someone that posts on another forum I'm on that's from there.

Re: Minor Earthquake!!
Our local news report moments ago said that the quake started here in downtown Flint through to Evansville, Indiana.
I didn't feel anything shaking...woke up a couple of times, but it was just excitement about our trip this weekend I think. Going to call my brother in Anderson now... |

Re: Minor Earthquake!!
I'm in Louisville, KY, felt my bed shaking violently for over 5 seconds...
Didn't put in together that there had been an earthquake until I turned on the news. My 13 year old remarked that's the way it's going to be when Jesus comes, it will just happen.... |

No damage, thank the Lord... |
Re: Minor Earthquake!!
There is some damage in St. Louis (35 miles southwest of us).
I know of no damage here. Everyone will be jittery for a while now. Most folks don't realize that we have a huge fault here in the Midwest named the New Madrid fault. This fault created the largest earthquake in U.S. history way back in the early 1800's. It caused the Mississippi River to flow backwards, created Reelfoot Lake in Tennessee and rang bells in Philadelphia. Geologists have been predicting a massive Midwest quake for years. |
Re: Minor Earthquake!!
It was felt in our county in southwest Tennessee. I didn't know anything about it but have heard alot of reports on the local radio station.

Re: Minor Earthquake!!
My brother is an engineer and runs a train out of Indiana.
He said that he felt it on the train. He didn't pay much attention to it because other trains, etc can make the ground shake. |

YIKES! |
Re: Minor Earthquake!!
My sister is in Evansville, IN and my brother in St. Louis. I need to see if they felt anything. Think I'll call them!
|
Re: Minor Earthquake!!
It woke me up about 4:30 in Finley, Tennessee with my bed rocking. I didn't know what had happened until I heard the news reports.

Re: Minor Earthquake!!

It woke my daughter up in St. Louis - - she said her bed was shaking and she didn't know what it was - she was scared to death!

I ALWAYS miss out on the fun! I slept right through the whole thing. It woke Mrs. Pianoman up. She said that she thought it was vibration from a low flying plane or something.
It woke up all of my fellow employees! |
Re: Minor Earthquake!!
I live near Cincinnati, Ohio which is in the Southwest corner of the state, just a few miles from Indiana and from Kentucky.
I slept through it. So did my wife. Some folks in the Cincinnati area reported beds shaking, pictures rattling on the walls, things in cupboards jiggling, etc. |

Re: Minor Earthquake!!
We felt it here. We're about 7 miles from the Ohio line in Indiana. About an hour and a half away from Wabash, Indiana. It lasted about 15 seconds. It was just a little scary and it's funny...the verse that has been mentioned is the exact verse that came to my mind when it happened. I guess yikes it is!
