Taking the boy to meet Justice Scalia

For the last several years Cody and I (my son) have went to various debates and events with political figures. We have seen Ehud Barak, Ann Coulter, David Limbaugh, Alan Dershowitz, Barry Lynn (American United for the Separation of Church and State), Al Gore, Nadine Strossen (President of the ACLU), etc.

Tomorrow we are going to meet Justice Scalia. These events are always a fun time for me and Cody and spark great conversations that allow great teaching moments.

Metro Ride - $3.85
Federalist Society Membership - $50.00
Skipping work early - $100.00
Meeting your favorite Supreme Court Justice - Priceless!

U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia will offer brief remarks, followed by a lively Q & A session with the audience. Each attendee will have the opportunity to meet Justice Scalia and have him sign a copy of his book.

This event is off-the-record and not open to press.

Thanks, I thought so but couldn't remember for sure. I think it's great that you are spending time with your son in this way. Learning outside the classroom is good for kids sometimes.

I think that this will be a great trip to take with your son. No doubt, he will remember it the rest of his life and will tell his kids one day if the Lord tarries.

I try to do things with him that he will remember. I guess its paying off someone asked him, "Why do you want to spend so much time with your dad?" He said, "I love my dad, I like doing things with him."

He doesn't know I am aware of this conversation though.

I hope I do it right. I have a great Dad. He live in CA and I am in DC and we talk almost daily. I hope when its time for Cody to make his own life he is an adult I want to spend time with.

Do you have any daughters? If so I hope you are able to do things with her too. Girls need good male role models, and good Dad's are the best way for them to learn.

Yes that would be her kissing me on the cheek on my avatar, right after a play at school where she was a clown. She and I do date nights. We were on our way to the Sugarland concert on Saturday when it started pouring down rain. We had lawn tickets, so her and I went to dinner instead. I take Cody to ballgames a lot too, and last summer Cody was in Costa Rica on a mission trip and Kari said, "Dad will you take me to a baseball game." Who could resist that?

That is wonderful. I think you are doing a great job. Don't you just love it when there eyes and face light up when they see you? My grandkids are like that, when they see me they're eyes and face light up. And I do when I see them also. As I do when I see my kids.

I have learned more about God as my Father by being one than I would have ever imagined.
