My Son was attacked
The Bible tells us to give thanks in all situations. Around 4:30 pm today my four yr old son was attacked by a dog. He bit him on the face. One of the wounds was very close to his left eye. I want to thank my Jesus that my son was spared his vision and that no serious damage was done to him.
My wife is concerned that he will have permanent scars. I told her that it would add character to his face (she didn't like that too much). Instead of giving him stiches, they bound him with the glue. |
Re: My Son was attacked
Oh my, I will be praying.
That is a terrible thing. Thank God it wasn't worse. |
Re: My Son was attacked
You all need to keep a better eye on him !!!
|
Re: My Son was attacked
Praying, and the scars should be minimal with the glue.
|
Re: My Son was attacked
So glad to hear that he's going to be ok. That glue stuff is amazing, by the way. I have a good friend who uses super glue anytime anyone in her family gets cut. It sounds weird, but it works!

Re: My Son was attacked
Glad your son is ok. A young girl was attacked here many years ago and she had several plastic surgeries and still has an outstanding scar on her face. She graduated highschool last year. I pray there is minimal scarring for your son if any in Jesus name.

Re: My Son was attacked
Wow, I'm glad he's okay. The same thing happened to my son, when he was young, while visiting my sister. The dog had attacked others. The owners had the dog put down. I think it's the right thing to do.
If you own a dog and you cannot confine him in a privacy fence, you don't need to own a dog. He should not be able to roam the streets!! |

Accidents happen every day and it does not mean someone is not watching after their child properly and most of all someone who has no children has no right whatsoever telling someone who does how to handle said situation... Now on that note... BK,.,,,, praying that your sons face gets better quick and that there is no scars remain!!! |
Re: My Son was attacked
I am glad this bad situation is not near as bad as it could have been. Thank the Lord your sons eye is ok. I am also praying for quick and complete healing of his face.

Were you there? Did you see the situation? How can you with a clear conscious make statements like this. I cannot believe ANYONE would say such a thing to a parent whos child has been hurt. NO MATTER THE CIRCUMSTANCES!!! Sometimes man, you just step outside the boundries of love. Blessings Steve |

I am glad your son is going to be ok. We had a dog once who didn't like my oldest daughter. She was constantly snapping at her and managed to bit her twice. The first time I forgave the pooch because it wasn't all that bad. The second time.....well, we don't have that dog anymore. |

Glad he is going to be ok...
We cannot prevent everything..I was standing right beside my husband some years ago and a bull dog jumped me and bit me...We were petting the dog...have no eartly idea why the dog did that...things just happen sometimes. |

This dog was an abused approx. 3 month old puppy when we got her. She was frightened at the slightest noise and would run hide with her face between her paws (door slamming, car door closing, lawn mower, etc). Over the past 9 months after being shown a lot of love she has really come into her own. She is meant to be a yard dog with occasional forays into the house (she loves to sleep on our bed). Now that she has grown in self confidence she has turned into a good watch dog with a ferocious bark at anybody pulling up in our driveway, etc. That part we like. However recently she has worried us by becoming very aggressive through the chain link fences that seperate us from three of our neighbors. They have small dogs on the other side and our dogs, including this one would run up and down the fence line barking at the dogs. That was ok but at some point this dog started standing up and putting her paws on top of the fence. I know that she could jump the five foot fence in a flash if she realized it. She also has started jumping at the fence. When our neighbor on the side started dogsitting a little dog our dog was barking at it and pushing at the fence at a spot where the bottom was loose and actually went through the fence into their yard. Nobody was more surprised than our dog! She was freaked out that she had made it into the neigbhors yard. Thankfully my wife and the neighbors wife were out there to get her back. To make matters worse I caught the little boy who is about 7 that lives behind us taunting our dog. He would stand about four feet from the fence and act like he was going to lunge at her and was making threatening noises. Of course she was lunging back at the fence and barking. I saw all of this from our kitchen window and ran out to tell the kid not to do that but I bet he does it when we are not around. In two weeks my BIL is coming to visit and brining one of those dog security wire set ups where you put a special collar on the dog and if they get too close to the flags or wires or whatever on the peremiter of the yard they get zapped. I am hoping this will keep her from getting too close to the fence and possibly into our neighbors yards. In the meantime we are keeping her in the house unless we are outside. We are also going to get some Beware of Dog signs. I am glad she is protective and vicious sounding though because we have had a lot of breakins in our neighborhood with things stolen. I think nobody is going to come in our back door with this dog around! |

With your faith and attitude, your son will have no scars... maybe, a little of the frightful memory for a while. Thanks for making my day the best with the example of your strong faith and your love for Jesus. Praise the Lord! |
Re: My Son was attacked
Praying for COMPLETE healing for your son!
Blessings! |
Re: My Son was attacked
Thank God your son isnt seriously hurt!
Did they get that dog? |
Re: My Son was attacked
Thanks everybody for the kind words and prayers. My son had been playing with the dog and all of sudden it did this. This dog has been around a lot of kids and never done anything like this before. It was not a killer type dog -- it was a cocker spaniel. I am uncertain what is going to happen to the dog. Howard wants to put the dog down, but Linda is uncertain (the owners). They say whatever they do -- the dog will not be allowed around kids anymore. I have the same sentiments about the matter.

Re: My Son was attacked
I pray that your son will overcome the trauma of this ordeal. He won't be looking at dogs the same way again, I bet. And the way you said that it will "add character to his face". Well I hope it will not do that. Some people who have scars on their face also have a few characters added to their name...Like Timmy Scarface for example. It might sound funny, but its true.

Re: My Son was attacked
bt, So glad your son wasn't hurt worse. I can only imagine how you must have felt. All dogs are unpredictable... even the calm and good natured ones...animals that they are. (Some people will bite you unexpectedly too :D
I hope he'll heal without scarring and have no future fear of dogs. |
Re: My Son was attacked
Sorry you have to go thru this, Stokes.
Breathing a prayer. |
Re: My Son was attacked
Some cockers have a genetic pre disposition for biting. Its called Fear Biting. It is not uncommon . They totally bite for no reason. Not a good thing!!!
|
Re: My Son was attacked
What is up with Cocker Spaniels? I have a friend who had to have her dog put to sleep after biting two people!!!!
|
Re: My Son was attacked
would not own a cocker spaniel because of this type of thing. Now I do own an Akita and a Pit Bull. They are the most lovable characters ever, most of the time. No one wants to come into our house though. I like it that way.

Re: My Son was attacked
Well my St. Bernard puppy might lick you to death, they are bad about knocking people down and sitting or laying on them. As our previous one did to a meter reader. I was in the house and heard someone shouting for help, went outside and she was just laying on top of the poor man licking his face......lol He read the meter with binoculars from his truck after that. Still praying for this precious child brother.

Re: My Son was attacked
I took my son today to the peditrician as a follow up, and he confirmed what I thought was beginning to occur. My son now has a staff infection in the worst injury that is located next to his left eye. I know that we all have very busy lives, but I ask you to continue to hold him up in prayer.
Thank you |
