The Passion....

Finally watched this movie last night.

I've kind of avoided it for several years.
Probably because a lot of biblical movies have underlying doctrine that i feel contradicts the bible or I question peoples motives. Maybe I'm just not a Mel Gibson fan....

But I'd been watching a music video that had many scenes from this movie and thought I should finally watch it.

I didn't really hone in on anythinig doctrianally(for sure).....but if this is movie is even a glimpse into the level of Jesus suffering.....

I've been beside myself since last night.....

I am very grateful for the price He paid...
I think of the song that some of the words are, "I owed a debt I could not pay..." and how true...
Thanks to Jesus for paying that debt for us...Thank Him for His mercy and GRACE...

Re: The Passion....

This movie was a masterpiece in every way I can think of.

I do not think anyone has even come close to the portrayal of the crucification as Mel Gibson did in the Passion.

Keith and I viewed it in the theater and people were visibly moved, I could hear sobs and sniffing back tears though out the building.

It made me think, am I doing enough for Christ? and I also had to repent because at times I am grateful for what Jesus did for me.

Watching the Passion, really effected me in a very profound and deep way-I will never forget it.

Jeanie, I am sure there are many times we humans are unthankful but it is wonderful and assuring to know that He abideth faithful...

I was moved by the movie. Christ loves us more than we can comprehend.

Re: The Passion....

The beatings, and mocking. They showed a view of Jesus coming into town with plam branches waving and days later beaten beyond recognition. Mocking, spitting. As he went to the cross. I never saw it like that before the way he came to passover and days later when he went to the cross.....i don't know why.

I wished I watched the movie when it came out....for some reason though something inside told me not to. It really made feel real pathetic at the stupid little stuff in this life I let get me worked up, or down on myself. I can be pretty petty.

Praise your Name Jesus.

Well Shawn, it sounds like you are seeing things in a proper perspective concerning what is really important in life-

Thank you for reminding us of this message- sometimes it just good to remember what God did for us all.

Saw the passion in theater - glad I did.

We want to go see fireproof, but the nearest theater that is carrying it is 40 min away. We will likely see it next week.

Re: The Passion....

Finally, I ran across the Passion posted on you tube & watched it.
Even knowing what I know, it still was hard to see.
I found myself wanting to scream out, "stop hurting him!" yet I knew it was in the plan of God.

Very moving, while bringing to our understanding that I am tremendously thankful for what he did for me!
I do not deserve it.

I am also teaching tomorrow on Easter & what God is bringing back to me is that while he sacrificed for me, what are we willing to sacrifice for his Kingdom?

We saw it in the theatre when they had the first showing, and then we showed it at church. I don't think anyone could watch it and not be in tears.

It's amazing how much he loves us all. Amazing.

Amen!

If anyone doubts that they are loved by God, then the Cross should settle that!:thumbsup

I haven't seen the movie yet even though I bought the video over a year ago. I know it will be devastating to watch. I'll need a whole box of tissues and a couple of days to recover!! I'm serious.

It is tremendously moving depiction of the suffering of Christ.

We have shown it at our church twice.

My wife has not watched it either Miz...and she insists she won't.

I wasn't going to watch it. I'm always weary of denominational slants in movies like this(sounds silly, I know)and the fact that Mel Gibson directed it made me want to see it less for some reason.

But I was working out some guitar parts to a music video that used portions of the movie and it was pretty gripping. I watched the whole movie on Youtube and one of these days I'll think I'm going to buy it.

I have never seen The Passion. I don't think I want to.

I have bought a copy of the DVD twice and each time gave it away without watching it.

One of our daughters-in-law saw it in a theater with a group from the church where her parents go (in Texas). Our daughter-in-law said there were parts she couldn't watch. She just covered her eyes.

I don't think I'll ever watch it again. Two times was almost more than I could take; I can still remember parts of it so vividly. But I do think everyone should watch it once. It's the only R-rated movie I would ever recommend!!

There are a few few others (R - rated) that should be seen Escape From Sobibor is one. Schindler's List another.

There were parts of it that I couldn't watch too. I know it had to happen, but the movie was so graphic. I definitely do not want to watch it again.

Mel Gibson is nuts, but he does make excellent movies. I wish he hadn't gone off the deep end right before Apocalypto. The whole thing with the Spanish showing up as the Maya civilization decayed was admittedly off by about three or four hundred years; but the point he made was ... um ... "spot on."
