Way to go Pianoman!

StillStanding 05-12-2007 10:46 AM

Thanks Everybody! :)

My son goes to Iraq for the first time in September. He'll be there with the first ever fleet of V-22 Osprey helicoptors to be used in a combat situation. My son will be in charge of the group of men responsible for the mechanical upkeep of the Ospreys. My son says his unit will be the "guiney pigs".

Here are a few pics of the new Osprey helicoptor:

Range, speed and flexibilty. Hard rules once defined by the limitations of legacy helicopters. The V-22 offers twice the speed, three times the payload, five times the range, and can fly more than twice as high as older rotorcraft it is destined to replace.

It is the world's first production tilt rotor combining the vertical performance of a helicopter with the high speed and range of a fixed wing aircraft...

...The V-22 not only rewrites the rules of mobility, it mobilizes the rules of engagement.

That to me sounds very exciting - and dangerous of course.

I've often said that if I had been born a guy I think military life might have appealed to me. :) Flying one of those helicopters would be a major adrenalin rush I would think.

Thanks! He loves what he does, and it shows as the Marines picked him to head up the very first group. He plans to re-enlist for one more term. By the time he gets out, he will be in high demand as the corporate world is also interest in this technology. You will see smaller versions of tilt-wing aircraft being used for hospitals, etc.

I'm hoping he can start his own consultant firm for training airline mechanics on the new technology. I guess we'll see! :)

My other daughter is hoping to get pregnant soon. Her and her husband wanted to wait a while, but now they're feeling left out! hahaha!

Bro. Pianoman,

What a beautiful little bundle you have there! A little granddaughter.

Looks like God is handing out rewards again.
