Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
|
Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
Just tuned in, looks like I just missed the message. Been working on the Church water lines all day.
What he preach on? |
Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
If the church calendar's correct, he's preaching tomorrow and Monday.
ETA: He's now speaking and a couple of things stood out (paraphrased) 1) He said that people who were at that meeting that night had things removed in their bodies that could have sickened them. 2) He said that the walls of Jericho sunk, they didn't fall and the children of Israel walked over the sunken walls. Uhhh...that's not what archaeology tells us. He's wrapping up by having them scream "JESUS." I suspect it would have blown out my computer speakers if I hadn't turned them down to 10 percent. |

I was taught that the walls came down from the inside out. Which is still pretty remarkable, considering if they had something big enough to take the walls down, it would have had to been from the outside in. He could be wrong. Or he could be right. Lol. |

Either way we both believe God brought them down. I don't agree with his statement, but I don't hate him for it either and wait for it... -gasp- I still respect him as a man of God. :O |

Actually many people think the walls fell into the ground, or at least crumbled into pebbles, because it said they fell down "flat".....
A wall the size of Jericho would seem to have taken time to climb over with all that major mess... There had to be something major happen to all those rocks.. |

Not going to make a mountain nor doctrine out of it. |
Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
It must have been a good day for LS when the only thing we can point out is the way the walls of Jericho fell.

Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
"Why does the choir have to sing exactly three songs?"
"Why do we have to take offering at exactly 8:15?" "Take the offering at 11:00, wait until they're all prayed through, you'll get more money." Hahahaha. |

Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
LS has been one of the great mysteries of the UPC world to me. For years on this forum and FCF before it I have heard LS supporters wax poetic about the masterpieces he preaches. Yet every single one of the six or so sermons I have either witnessed in person or watched or heard on the internet the content has been mostly red meat catch phrases to get old time Pentecostal people fired up.
I have yet to find one of those masterpieces. When I pointed this out a few years ago to a supporter of his on the forum after listening to a specific sermon and referencing it, their response to the lack of coherent content in the message and the red meat catch phrases was only that "well, he is building peoples faith". I have no reason to question LS's sincerity and have never heard a single derogatory thing about his character so this is not a personal attack against him. |

What he has to say doesn't necessarily bring great revelation to me when I listen lol. The point is that he DOES have the gift of faith. When I listen to him, I feel faith building in my soul. That's why his altar calls are so amazing. Because when he says angels are in the building and that God is there to do a work, people believe him. If people believe that God is in the house...he's right...anything is possible. |

Itinerant preachers have to produce or they can't make a living. LS was very influential in my formative years. In many ways I feel he was different then. He's changed. Started back in the late 80s. First heard the beginnings of the HMH sermon then. I had never had issues with his preaching until then. After that it's never been the same for me.

Maybe LS needs prayer himself, and not the HMH kind.

I didn't see LS's name on any of the archives from today but maybe he spoke tonight and it is not archived yet. |

The guy you're talking about is Rashidi Collins. Some east coast preacher guy. He preached the NAYC2011 with Bro. Jimmy Toney last year. That's about all I know of him. Not a fan of his style. Here's the link for the LS one from earlier this evening. http://www.tpcmemphis.org/archived.aspx?wme=20120629a |

I find watching LS to be like a painful sore inside your mouth. You just can't help but to keep touching it with your tongue even thought you know it is going to hurt. |
Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
Over half way through it now.
Watching a bunch of men performing the mating dance routine at the alter area while he shouts out a few catch versus. |

The beginning was multiple stories about people who insulted God then died horrible deaths. Of course I am sure there are a few million more low lifes every day who curse God and do the same who won't get their comeuppance until judgement day! Of course these stories are red meat for most old time Pentecostal crowds. |
Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12

The stories of those who mocked God and died was about the first 1/3 of his message. The payoff was ultimately comparing those who mocked God to those who left Holiness Apostolica with a good long nod to uncut hair. |

That seems like a no-brainer to me. A side note: just in case there is anyone here who might have the 'ear' of LS, stories and endless data are not what I want, or better than that, NEED to hear in a sermon. Thank the Lord that I have a pastor who preaches the Word. It challenges be to stretch out in faith and godliness. It reproves me and stirs me. It lifts me up as well as move me to tears and travail. Praise the Lord for the Word and for men and women who know how to administer it in power and love. :nod |

Thanks to all who provided the cliff notes. I would be more impressed if someone transcribed the message word for word and posted it.

CC1, I have a feeling you would really enjoy Eli Lopez and Nathaniel Haney preaching.

Re: Bro. Stoneking - Live 6/23/12
Or Jeff Arnold - it's all word with him.
