How was Church????

So, to start a hopefully POSITIVE thread, how were your church services today? Eddie preached a great sermon on the adulterous woman who was brought before Jesus. We baptized three new people, including our first new convert in our new church in Savannah, TN. He came over to Jackson to be baptized, since we don't have a baptistry there.

So what happened in your world today???? TESTIMONY TIME!

Was his wife baptized too?

We always had to use a baptistry somewhere else. I imagine it will be a relief when the get their own.

We have our own here. Much more convenient.

Right now we're in a storefront building. BUT we have purchased property, so it's a step in that direction!!

I can't wait. I am excited to see God continue to be exalted in Savannah and that Love and Truth gets to be a part of it there.

retsambeW 07-29-2007 05:19 PM

Will it be on the side of Savannah closest to A-ville?

No - toward Pickwick. How well do you know the layout of Savannah?

Not well, only been there once, ate at the Mc'D's. Blech.

I have been to Shiloh, so I can find my way there.

Yeah, I'll echo that blech - LOL. McDonald's sits on the corner of Pickwick Road and Wayne Road. It fronts Wayne. Our property is approximately three miles down Pickwick Road. Have you ever been to Gerald Davis's church - New Life Pentecostal Church? Ours is about 1/2 mile on down from him on the opposite side of the road.

Never been to that church. Closest church I have been to in the area was Beauty Hill for a week back in October.

The great excitement as far as fellowship was the Shiloh Park and the incredible Crump fleamarkets. :D

Pastor Eddie's stepdad goes to Beauty Hill. He comes to Love and Truth for midweek service.

I hope the "incredible" adjective was meant TIC....I see nothing incredible there. Lots of folk here see them as an eyesore!! ;)

Very TIC! They actually were not open the day we went to Shiloh. I could not believe how bad it looked. Of course, if you have a lot of people milling around shopping, you probably would not notice it as bad.

I have never heard of Beauty Hill, but I think I have heard of Gerald Davis' church. Are both UPC churches?

Yeah, but Beauty Hill is in the boonies!! Bro Davis's church is in Savannah (said as if Savannah is metroplex or something - LOL)......

Have you ever heard the phrase:

You can't get there from here?

Well you look that up, and the definition is Beauty Hill.

:D

Ya got that right! I really and truly don't know if I've ever seen that church. I don't have much reason to drive around out in Purdy and I've only been out that way once or twice in my life. I might have seen the church but my memory escapes me if I have.

retsambeW 07-29-2007 05:47 PM

The outside is nice, though plain. The inside of the church is absolutely beautiful.

Is Brother Davis' church where R.W. Moore used to pastor quite a few years ago?

Who pastors at Beauty Hill?

Ronzo 07-29-2007 06:00 PM

No - Bro Moore's church was about three or four miles on down the road from Bro Davis. And I don't have a clue who pastors at Beauty Hill. This is where retsambeW (that is hard to type--I don't like spelling backwards...) steps in and answers the question.........

CC1 07-29-2007 06:45 PM

Bro. McClary.

Sorry about the backwards typing. I chose the backwards spelling because many still refer to me as Webby, and this site all ready has a Webamster who is talented in his own right. No need to confuse folks.

How was church?

Awesome ... the Holy Ghost moved in such away during worship that Pastor Jones had to shelve his message and led the Church in a time of repentance, vertical worship, and finally was able to lead the Church in corporate communion [planned] ....

All I could do was weep and humble myself before the Lamb.

LOL!!! Yup. Dan Scott was in a very good frame of mind after his wife Trish went through brain surgery a week ago and it went well. It was an uplifting message urging people to find their place in life and the kingdom of God and to do what they are meant to do.

Tina 07-29-2007 08:33 PM

Church today was great. Bro Wayne Flake preached for us today, a very good sermon titled "When you hear the sound, be ready to move."

My sister was home for the weekend, and got to be in church with me today-- this doesn't happen very often, so it was special. :)
