Administrator Request

:beggingAlthough I realize there is probably no way you guys would ever let me be an admin, I'm curious to know what it takes to become one.

I'm not admin, but am curious...why would you want to be an admin?!

No disrespect intended, but with 77 posts under your belt, do you know us well enough for this task?! Do you have forum experience?!

Why on earth would you want to be a forum admin and have to read every single post on the forum, and read a zillion PMs and emails and have to cope with mediating disagreements, get involved in counseling, and answer a zillion questions.

I think that forum admins must be totally over their heads with all this stuff and I don't know how they're not able to become totally immersed and absorbed in the lives of some of the people of these forums.

They watch and see everything.

Why would anyone in their right minds want that position? LOL! :)

Chewy 07-30-2007 07:43 PM

You know, I asked someone one time what it would take for someone to hit me in the face with a hammer.

Very good point!! Matter of fact I only have limited experience on multiple forums. I really don't have a desire to be one so much as curious to know what it takes and what is involved. Besides every group needs a slacker to make everybody else feel good about themselves. :sly

Not much - :roseglasses:roseglasses:roseglasses

ILG 07-30-2007 07:57 PM

Well, I think first you have to be willing to give up hours of your life every day. If you are willing to do that, then you have to be willing to be in the middle of all the big hairy debates, breaking up fights on the forum and behind the scenes taking up MORE hours of your time. And if you're still foolish enough to sign up after that, I think they initiate you by making you eat live goldfish and a bottle of ketchup. Still interested? :noidea:slaphappy You might ask Renda how to apply.

Rico 07-30-2007 07:57 PM

DS, you are asking for TROUBLE!! lol

Hmmm... Where did you get the idea that admins/mods read every post on the forum? I don't. I read only threads that interest me by the titles-- and anything that gets reported. I'm pretty sure that's about how the rest of the team does too. I don't deal with a zillion PMs and emails... someone else does email (and I'm so glad it isn't me, I barely keep up with my own personal email!) Counseling wasn't in my job description. We don't get involved in people's personal lives (or at least I don't). At any time I feel like I'm in over my head here, I just log out. :)

I would like to believe that I'm still in my right mind too. :sshhh

How would you like to follow a diesel bus around sniffing diesel exhaust until you have a splitting headache and vomiting?

Same thing.

Can't imagine why anyone would want it.

since admin seems to be congregating. ive got a request.

dont delete any threads. its hard work to get my post count up so instead could you just hold them until they are a few days old, lock the buggers and then put them back in? that way I get to keep my post count?

A soft deleted thread doesn't affect your post count, Ferdinand
