The Little Girl and her Daddy...

The little girl looked up and watched as her dad got on the bus and with a tear beginning to form and run down her cheek she said, "Daddy I will miss you"
Dad had hugged her and didn't want to look back at her but he couldn't resist it. He squared his shoulders and looked back at her and his heart melted and a single tear ran down his cheek. He saw her as she was born into the world and heard her first cry with her first real breaths. He saw her lying in her bed as she cooed and would cry into the night waiting for her daddy to pick her up.

He saw her as she begin to crawl and take her first steps. He saw the chocolate on her face at her first year birthday party and he remember crying when they had to take her to the doctor for her shot. He cried there with her and laughed with her as she spoke her first little words. He remembered holding her hand in church as she would smile at him.

He remembered the little pretty eyes and her little pout as her anger would soon subside and she would laugh again. He remember her running to him to protect her from the lightening and the storms. He remembe...
"Daddy, you can let go of my hand" the little girl said...
And with that final tear he let go and got off the School bus..

Well Randy .......... now you've gone and done it!!! I'm gone to be lost in a flood of old memories that threaten to bring a tear or two and it's your fault!
Now it's going to take me all day to regain my composure and get back to normal.

I remember walking my daughter to her first day at school. She had her backpack on and her mom had curled her hair.

I was dumped and left on the curb like recyclables as she went running into the classroom.

Is this a daddy tradition? My dad took me to school on my first day too. I remember turning around and telling him "you can go now". I wonder if he cried on the way home?

I remember my dad taking me to headstart when I was 3. That first day is one of the few memories I have before he really got sick and couldn't get out as much. Now that he has passed on, at least I can say I still remember it, hazely, but fondly.
