Quebec City Anti-Austerity Arrests
over 300 arrested for peacefully marching in Quebec, a city of a half million. Nothing in the mainstream news, of course.

Canada is actually a free country with elected representatives and its citizen's votes actually matter; whereas Saudi Arabia is a monarchy with no power for the people. So, why the concern over this issue? After all, it's Canadian law and the people there are able to change it if they don't like it. |
Re: Quebec City Anti-Austerity Arrests
well, good points. i never meant to imply that i didn't care about human rights issues, anywhere; even KSA, halfway around the world. But Canada is quite a bit closer to home--right across a bridge, for me. Also possibly a case of knowingly breaking the law v peacefully protesting. This one surprises me, because it just doesn't fit with my perception of most Canadians.
also, i often argue points just to present the other side of an unbalanced argument--i would most likely be the biggest troublemaker in KSA :lol |

Once the establishment gains control then wresting back that control from said establishment is almost impossible without confrontation.
Welcome to socialism. Coming to a US city near you. |
