Sunday Night Church

Has a thread already been created on this topic?

It appears that the BIG church in Denver is the only one conducting Sunday night services anymore. The two other UPC churches of note in the city have cancelled theirs.

I wonder why?

I only know because I have driven by them on my way home, etc. on Sunday nights and their doors are darkened.

This includes the controversial Brother Gordon's Lovingway "Jews killed Jesus" United Pentecostal Church...

I wonder if cancelling church on Sunday night is a rally-cry-sort of...thing, or is it a white flag?

We did it a few years ago. I know a number of churches that have cut out sunday night.

others seem to have big crowds on sunday night.

We dropped Sun nites 4 or 5 years ago.

We did however just start a Sun night (5:30) service for the under 35 crowd. We call it journey. It's casual cafe style, with "youthful" guitar driven worship.

As tired as we might be some nights, I don't think we can ever let go of Sunday Eve Service. We love to worship and Sunday eve offers a distinct worship service to our Sunday Morning

I can't stand NOT having church. Usually when church is canceled everyone get's together with their family and us single guys with none are left to be by ourselves. It can be depressing and the temptation to look out in the world can grow stonger

Re: Sunday Night Church

We still have a Sunday night service, actually our pastor did a survey about a year ago on potential format changes, and that was one of the options. The results were about 50/50 but the 50% who weren't necessarily for eliminating it responded with a basic "whatever you feel is best" attitude.

Pastor prayed about it and even though his personal preference was to go to one service, he felt like our Sunday night services were still well enough attended and productive that he couldn't get a release to do away with it.

So, we are holding on to it for now. :tissue Only because I work at the church and I sometimes feel like I never leave here.

Yeah but you go to one of those "lib" churches that have "gone charismatic"!!!!! One Sunday service is further proof of that.:bliss:gaga
