Godwin's Law
 

Has anyone in this forum experienced Godwin's Law?

For those that don't know it is:

"As an online argument continues the probability of someone being compared to Hitler or a Nazi, approaches one..."

This a real law, its not joke, no matter how odd it sounds--- it happens often.

That works! It just seems so much better!

I have never had a Godwin effect on my football forum (Then again it's pretty young) but I assume one will break out.

Its funny most of the time it breaks out over opinions instead of facts. I have extensive forum guidelines on all of my communities (thats right the NFL one is not the only one) and for some reason I see a Godwin break out every day. The fun ones are when people battle IE of FF like one is obviously better.

Maybe Hitler and the Nazis are the closest thing to pure evil dressed up in intellectualism that we have. It’s recent enough that everyone knows it. Maybe for years after Herod ruled people referred to those on the other side of the arguments as "You Herod".
