Little People

In just two short months I will be 48 years old. I thought I had seen some very small midgets / dwarfs in my life but a couple of days ago had an amazing encounter.

My wife and I had just finished enjoying the culinary delights of our local Steak & Shake and were standing in line to pay when I saw my wife get a shocked look on her face then quickly recover.

I looked around to see what had gotten her attention then realized that what I thought had been a three or four year old little girl in front of me was a little woman in her 40's.

When I say little I don't mean your typical midget or dwarf. she was the size of a three or four year old and perfectly proportioned. All of her features were perfectly normal.

The young boy of about ten that was with her and I am assumingher son was about twice her size. I wanted to lurk and see if she was driving but didn't.

I love that show "Little People, Big World." They are fabulous people. I just love the shows when they go to Little People Conventions. They are absolutely fascinating people. Love 'em!

I watch that show religiously. Years ago, before they had their youngest boy, they were on a talk show, Jenny Jones I think. I admired them then, and I admire them now. They adapt well to any and all obstacles, and Matt wants his kids to have the life he wanted to live. Gotta love his house!!!

There are other shows about little people. One of them is about primordial dwarfs, which are the smallest, usually not getting much bigger than a 12 month old. They don't live very long either, usually in their early 20's. They are very cute, but their lives are not ideal.

They can never have children and most of them can't do very much at all, including hold a job (what can someone who is only 29 inches tall and 16 pounds do?), drive (although some tallers ones can), and they have to have someone of average height go with them almost everywhere so they aren't 'run over' by us normal folks.

It's very sad but I love watching them because I'll probably never see anyone like them in real life.

Some people are short in stature, while others are just short on character.
