Before advancing any further, I shall address Bro. Sacket's comments above.

You stated: "we preach against tv, jewelry, makeup and women with cut hair...we are not aff"

I couldn't avoid sensing the pride and arrogance within your comments. When pride floods the heart, it reflects in one's mannerisms, or in your case, comments. It's my suggestion that you revisit the book of Proverbs and an old fashion prayer altar.

Moving on...............

Before reading the following, please keep the mindset that I'm a conservative.

While reading brother Sackett's comments earlier I remembered certain bothersome circumstances that I'll now divulge. Within recent years I've attended multiple conservative functions, sectional services and camp meetings. Yet, I would always seem to encounter the identical template sermon, preserving old paths w/holiness standards. Please don't misunderstand, I fully embrace these standards. However, abiding by the concept "old paths" requires more than modest outward appearance, and these teachings I've failed to hear at conservative functions.

Excluding regular church services, at these functions I've never witnessed preaching on evangelism, embracing or functionality of spiritual gifts, etc. The Holy Ghost is the door to vast avenues of the spirit, yet these avenues remain vacant due to lack of teaching. I'm afraid a majority of brethren have begun in the spirit and been perfected in the flesh. Are we preserving the "old paths" of our physical fathers, or of those found in the book of Acts? The apostles preached to sinners on street corners and in open fields, yet we choose to hide behind pulpits and idiotic carnal excuses. Which old path are you preserving? These apostles performed countless miracles and embraced the poor. Which old path are you preserving?

New Testament believers didn't impose any regulations about racial segregation or interracial marriage! Which old paths are you preserving, thou hypocrite?

I've also witnessed many instances where pastors and saints remove the Holy Ghost from the equation and try converting the new convert by themselves. That's a display of foolishness and always results in devastation.

Psalms 127:1
Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it.....

That's enough venting for now...........

I could simply state, "So what is your point?", but that would be like feeding the kitten a warm bowl of milk. He'd like it.

Let me start off by saying Bro. I Cor2:4, if you think that I am one of these cons that brow beat peolpe and try perfecting a bushel of apples while all the others on the ground rot, you are wrong. Plain and simple. My statement that you quoted was simply a STATEMENT. It was not done in arrogance and pride but simply a statement.

Now, for the remainder: I happen to agree with you. Though, I do not know what conservative meeting you are attending if you are not hearing about evangelisim and revivals. That worries me a little aobut you! :D

The conservative meetings that I go to have had much about evangelism and revival. I believe in holding to the old paths, but I also believe in reaching the lost. We need more of this! I have heard of these holiness contests, I meant holiness conferences and cannot stand the attitude that goes with that group. BUT, I am not letting up on my holiness stand just to draw a crowd. Who cares if you have thousands and they are all going to hell, Mr. Olsteen?

Oh, and by the way, I never said that I was one that stood against interracial marriages. If this thread was directed to criticize me, then try again. I mean, isn't that what Jesus would do? Real Christian like there Bro.

God bless!

Do you have a fetish of making yourself feel persecuted? I addressed you at the beginning, the remainder of my post was for the general reader.

Bro. Sackett........since you're pursuing the subject....clarify the air with a simple yes or no answer. Would you encourage marriage between a "white" and "black" folk? Your non-response will signify no, unless otherwise stated.

Good sir, a non response from me doesn't mean anything. I choose where I want to post and where I don't. I think that you do the same, if I'm not mistaken. I'm beginning to love your demeaning and demanding attitude. :ursofunny

How many times do I have to say that I do NOT have problem with interracial marriages???? What part of it do you not understand? I don't encourage any marriage if I don't feel good about it. I could really care less about the skin color.

Amen. It is rare indeed to see anyone witnessing on the streets. How about door to door? How about at secular concerts? Airports? Parks? Malls?

That does not seem to be part of the "Apostolic" package anymore. I know it was done when I was a young believer back in the 70's. Since then I cant remember seeing Apostolics out in the public witnessing or preaching.

Yes I have heard of it a bit but no where that I have been.

Good post bro. I'll just touch on 3 issues you brought up in that post:

Teaching on standards is overdone. And there seems to be more and more of a "bunker mentality" accompanying a lot of the talk about standards, tv, etc. (as in... "Y'all can go backslide if you want to, but as for me, I'm not letting go of my 'holiness'". )

Teaching on personal evangelism and spiritual gifts is underdone.

And I dare say that the mere fact that many of those conservatives frown upon interracial marriages tells me they are not in tune with the Spirit of God as much as they might think they are.
