What the Africans are Saying........

I just got this in an email from a guy (American) who lives in Uganda:

President of Africa- Barack Obama?

Johnson, a Ugandan friend of mine was at my door, the day after the election shouting, “we have won-we now rule your country, we will travel there freely.” “We will have visas, this is our day-we have won.”

A Kenyan student at MakerereUniversity was quoted in the Newspaper in Kampala saying, “We will get our tuition paid by Barack Obama, we will get free green cards to the USA. He is one of ours!”

Everyone in Africa was excited; people stayed home from work to watch election results on Al Jazeera or CNN. Bars ran out of beer, people shouted all day and all night and day long. Pictures of President Barack Obama were being sold by street vendors. The local newspapers were filled with congratulatory messages from various companies and businesses. Expectations abound.

President Kibaki declared a national holiday in Kenya, congratulatory messages were sent from all over Africa. Babies born after election were named Barack Obama or Michelle.

In Uganda some parliamentarians danced a victory dance and added O’s to their names, in Kenya at the village of Barack Obama’s father, they roasted a bull, goats, chickens and everyone came to congratulate his grandmother and other relatives. The road to there has been improved and in parliament, they are discussing the Kisumu airport so Airforce 1 can land.

The Luo people had been hoping for a Luo president in Kenya since independence in 1963 and now, a man of Luo descent is about to be President of the most powerful nation in the world while in Kenya they are still waiting.

Even Luos here in Uganda are claiming him as their own by saying that Barack Obama was connected to Ugandan towns since the Luos are one people even though they are spread over at least three nations.

Africa is excited, go to discussion boards on line in Africa and you will see Barack Obama referred to as King Obama.

Doesn't surprise me one bit.
Each side does that over here, especially if they are fresh & new, and have some Charisma as Obama does, yet things pretty much stay the same.

It is the same for Africa & it will be the same over here.

Great expectations, yet I think very few will be fulfilled!

Just how I see it.

And, they will be swamped with Africans seeking to leave their land and come to America. Gonna be funny when they find out they still need visas.

Speaking generally, does that say something of the people or the Candidates?
