I Won Two Turkeys Today - Pics- Me & Mrs MOW

Diane & I went to an open house, which we thought was for Camp Perry where our son Josh had drill this weekend. However, itwas an open house for the CMP. They had a turkey shoot on their Olympic range and I won twice and also got the best shot of the day! Woo Hoo!

Diane did really well too!! :D

I doubt you are really that good. Most of these places have special privileges for "Pastors". It's sort of an affirmative action for the lessor qualified.

:whistle

Ha, ha!!

If anything, they gave me special dispensation for my son being at drill! :D However, they really did not know either situation. Truth be known, I AM that good!!!!!

Sometimes..................at least I was today.

Now, tomorrow may be a completely different story.

The organization was the Civilian Marksmanship Program

http://www.odcmp.com/

They have been in existence since 1916 by an act of Congress. Originally chartered to provide civilians marksmanship skills so there would be folks prepared to join the military in time of need. I knew nothing about this until today. It was a fun day. Their facility here is state of the art. They have 80 shooting stations set up...all computer monitored and controlled. It really is quite impressive.

Brother, I have posted my Mom's turkey give-away story before on here. Do you remember it?

Here's a suggestion for you --- give away at least one of those turkeys and watch what God does. Then give away the ones He replaces that one with and watch Him replace them with even more. Keep doing that over and over and pretty soon you should have enough turkeys to fill your freezer and keep you in meat for a whole year. :tease

Re: I Won Two Turkeys Today!!!

The Vineyard church where I went from 1992-2006 gives away turkeys each year. They give out bags (I think it's boxes this year) with a list of stuff needed for a Thanksgiving meal for a family. People fill the bags with the stuff, then the Vineyard adds a turkey and they are delivered. I did that a couple of years. One year I took small grandchildren with me to help me carry stuff. It was neat to go to a house, give the food, and then pray for whatever needs they had there. In 2007 they reached 803 families. the goal this year is to serve 1,200 families in need. Think about that, 1200 families will receive a turkey and the fixins to go with it. And if they will let them, the people who deliver it will pray with them and for them in their homes. The Vineyard is a neat church. Their idea is to demonstrate the love of God in a practical manner. In case you are interested you can access their web site at:

The Church where I am going now (since spring 2006) is called "The Hamilton Dream Center." We are a small church but we will give away 50 turkeys this year. Earlier this fall we gave away hundreds of back packs filled with school supplies. A couple of weeks ago we gave away coats. Later we will give away gifts for Christmas. On Wednesdays we have about 100 children who come for Super Kids Church. We provide dinner for them before the service.
