Out Of Date Items
 

I was thinking the other day about things that are no longer relevant because times have changed.

1. There was a joke in a joke book in the library when I was a kid that asked if it was 9pm and you set your alarm for 10am how long would it be until the alarm went off. The answer was 1 hour... because the clock doesn't know the difference between am & pm.

Well... that one is out of date.

2. In the video store you would see the sign "Be Kind - Rewind". I would imagine that there are still some video stores out there with VHS tapes but they are few and far between.

So... for the most part... that sign is out of date.


Can you think of any other signs, statements, jokes or anything else that time and progress have made irrelevant?

I wonder how long it will be (if it hasn't happened already) that the often vast audio cassette libraries of sermons that made churches have will find themselves completely unused since NO ONE will have a working tape deck anymore. Again, this is probably almost the case by now anyways.

LOL! Iwas just thinking this as I was thinking about listening to an old cassette and I have no wokring tape player!! The library where I work has one I can check out!! :)

Is it to listen to SC Johnson?

If so, maybe followers will be able to go to a lake, cast a line into the water, and pull out a fish with a cassette deck (in a zip-lock baggy) in its mouth.

...just a strange thought for those folks who are uniquely dependant on technology to have access to God's utterance.

Between your post and tbpew's post one word comes to mind.

Revival.

Today revival is a series of services with a very exciting speaker who yells and spits in the microphone.

Revival... is to revive something.

If we could revive in the church the mindset of the three things tbpew and yourself have mentioned I believe it might be said of Christianity once again... they turned their world upside down.
