Lord, we were too busy
I was sitting here bored, pondering life and I thought to myself how lately I haven't really dedicated anytime to the winning of souls.
I know how many of us come up with many excuses to justify our lack of spreading the gospel. I wonder what God thinks about us, how we find the time for recreational activities but can't lift a leg to witness to a soul, in person. After-all, the great commission is spreading the gospel. What excuses are we going to use while in the presence of Jesus? (Us) Lord, we were too busy. (God)How did you have time for AFF? (Us) We weren't feeling well -or- we were stricken with an illness (God) The 12 apostles faced death everyday, didn't I provide for them? (Us) The streets are filled with criminals. (God) Didn't you read about the situations I protected Janice Alvear from in Brazil? (Us) Lord, my feet hurt. (God) Jacob limped and performed my will. (Us) My family were priority (God) Didn't I require you to love me more than they? (God)You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter. |
Re: Lord, we were too busy
Strange how these types of threads always get ignored. I guess gossip is more important. But know we will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, and even that thing you did in the dark and thought nobody else was watching, that record will be there too!

Re: Lord, we were too busy
I was thinking along these lines past couple of days.

I don't see evangelism as an event, something we plan or schedule. I see it as a lifestyle through developing authentic relationships with those outside the faith and far from God. It's as natural as breathing. |

I wonder if the First Church went door knocking? Did they pass out mini scrolls with church info in it? :toofunny :toofunny Definitely, our lives are the testimony (or not); but there is something to be said for creating opportunities for evangelism by reaching out to the community, and not isolating yourself from the world. People don't normally care what strangers have to say; but if you befriend them, they might listen. You want to reach people? Put food on the table of the hungry; give blankets to the homeless; volunteer in the cancer ward; take your neighbors a pie; spend a day repairing the home of an elderly or disabled person; go to a nursing home and read or sing to the patients....that's what I call evangelism. :thumbsup |

I'm finding that out and I appreciate what you said. Colossians 4:3-6 is a great reference for what you described. |

deserves ALL attention., they forget WHY we were put here. Some people I fear, don't even BELIEVE IN GOD although they can pretend to be whatever is needed to gain attention, it is truly a pity as they are quite obvious. YET many others, also ARE so grateful to GOD for His mercies, that He IS the center of their world, praise JESUS! Time is a balancing act., we are "on call" as mercenaries for Him, but He wouldn't allow us to have a personal "life" if it were not possible to integrate it all without compromise to His purposes. a wise person will learn [not without errors] as time goes. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me". ;) |
