Communion Thank You

NOTE: I posted this "Thank You" in the original thread but the thread is now buried in one of those places where only a deeply dedicated computer nerd will find it. So I'll just do a thread. This was an amazing event for our church.

Here's the original thread:

http://apostolicfriendsforum.com/showthread.php?t=26793

And the post I'm referring to:

http://apostolicfriendsforum.com/sho...5&postcount=37

And the "Thank you":

In the spirit of "Honor where honor is due", I wanted to say a public "Thank You" to Baron for this thread and specifically, for this post.

As a result of this thread, this post, and emails that we exchanged afterwards, our church did Communion recently in a way we never have before. We asked for group leaders and then for people to join each group.

During "Communion Week" numerous homes were filled throughout the week with 15-20 people or so for dinner. At the conclusion of dinner, the assigned leader, passed out pieces of bread torn off from a loaf, and filled each glass with the "Fruit of the Vine".

Scriptures were read, prayers were prayed and Communion was celebrated.

I received more email response to this than anything we've ever done. Several dozen people said it felt like the first time they'd ever taken communion.

It was clearly one of the best things we've ever done as a church and I wanted to publicly thank "Baron" for his inspiration.

It truly is. Unfortunately, it's almost always been an uncomfortable experience. In the past, we had tried our best to eliminate all the condemnation and hooky-spooky stuff that frequently gets thrown in. But it was still often difficult. But this was far different. And it also got people together which is always great, and they were gathered centered around the experience of Calvary!

I know for us, we'll never do Communion the "Old Way" again.

Would you have ever thought in your wildest imagination that AFF would be a blessing to you and your fellowship?

:lolHonestly.....no. But just this has been a transformation experience. I confess, we've not done communion as often as we should. Now it will be a regular event and people are already asking when we're doing it again.

I was once questioned in an accusatory way why we hadn't had communion in a while. But this is the first time I've had people encourage me to have communion as soon as possible.
