Nona B. Freeman's Funeral Today
Today, Tuesday, Jan 5, 2010. I attended one of the most beautiful Memorial/Funeral
Services I believe I have ever attended! Program: Rev. Gerald McGaha, Section 7 Presbyter, officiated. Prayer and comments by Rev. C. M. Becton. Obituary and testimony by son in law, Rev. Brian Orffer. Rev. Murrell Ewing made comments and sang. "I Must Be Home Now". Rev. Jannie (Onnie) Smith, General Supt., South Africa, gave testimony and made comments. Rev. Ronald Hendricks, sang "Hold ME". Rev. Jerry Eastridge, Sis. Freeman's brother, spoke of their mother and his sister, Nona. Orion T. Gleason, son in law, sang "Down From His Glory". Rev. Jerry Richardson, Regional Director, Africa, spoke. Sis. Nancy Grandquist played and sang "Great Is Thy Faithfulness. Rev. Bruce Howell, General Foreign Missions Director, spoke. Message by Rev. T.F. Tenney. Sis. Mickey Mangun led the congregation in a song, "Blessed Be The Name Of The Lord" Bro. David K. Bernard, General Supt. of the UPCI, was not on the program and due to some important meetings, was not sure he would get to come. Pulled some strings and was able to be there. He made some comments and introduced Bro.T.F. Tenney. Everything was just so right and the sweet Presence of the Lord was there in such a beautiful way. I am so glad I was able to be there!!! Blessings, Falla39 |
Re: Nona B. Freeman's Funeral Today
So glad to hear this wonderful report of her home-going service. She has touched so many lives, and will continue to touch lives through her written word.
If you never got to hear her preach, you have sorely missed out. She just oozed of FAITH! It was almost a palpable presence around her! So glad to see that Orion T. (Turner) Gleason got to sing there. He is married to Lynda. They are a wonderful couple! Pop is one of the kindest men I know, and Lynda one of the kindest women. :heart This has probably already been stated somewhere, but they have set up a Nona Freeman fan page on Facebook and have been posting some of Sis. Freeman's, and others', writings for anyone who might be interested. :D |
Re: Nona B. Freeman's Funeral Today
I didn't know she died. I rejoice she is with the Lord! Who will pray the prayers and continue the work that she possessed? Its a challenge to us all.
