Ex-POW Writes Book
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100203/.../us_pow_memoir
I ind the last few paragraphs of this article MOST interesting and thought-provoking. Especially when I compare it to my feelings about Iraq then, and even now. The backdrop of it all-- the article changes some things in my own mind. |
Re: Ex-POW Writes Book
I just ordered the book, after reading this. Thanks for the link.

Re: Ex-POW Writes Book
I hope y'all are praying regularly for all of those in the military.
I would also like to encourage you to pray for healing for those in the military and for all of our veterans. --1 out of every 4 homeless persons in the U.S. is a veteran but vets are only 11 percent of the adult population --45 percent in the VA's homeless programs have a diagnosable mental illness and more than 3 out of 4 have a substance abuse problem. 35 percent have both a mental illness and a substance abuse problem. --Iraq war vets seeking help are more likely to be women, less likely to have substance abuse problems, but more likely to have mental illness --mostly related to post traumatic stress. |
Re: Ex-POW Writes Book
I would never want to be a POW and in my mind, I thought it would be even worse to be a femaly POW.
I guess it would depend on the morals of your enemy. "Morals" and "enemies" within the context of the Iraq War in 2003 would never have been a matter of discussion. |
