All that political power.... While he had it on Feb 7th, what good is it now on Feb 8th?

Wow. Mr. Mertha was a mixed bag of great and terrible. He was a genuine war hero. But he was a guy who had some serious ethics charges against him and some of the things he did to undermine the war effort in Iraq were near unforgivable.

I am sorry to see his passing.

Your source now says Monday instead of Wednesday.

I saw that on the news this evening and told my wife, "Well, I'm glad he's gone." He was a one time war hero but had degenerated into a very vocal nasty-mouthed critic of men and women in our military and was an egregious pork barrel glutton.

Fox News reports this morning that the doctors accidentally severed his intestine removing his gall bladder. He died as a result of this. Yuck.

Well...perhaps another seat will flip to the GOP with his passing. I know it sounds cold, but thats the bigger picture in a sense. I hope his family finds peace in this time of pain. I know that no words will take the pain form them. Only time eases the grief of a lost loved one.

For the rest of us though, the world keeps spinning and in this case it opens a window to further hurt the Obama/Dems plans.

I agree. His comment accusing the soldiers of killing civilians in cold blood was way over the top.

Lawsuit?

I'd imagine so.

He died before his time.

I'm shocked, however, that I have not heard more about it than what I have heard already.
