Ronald Wilson Reagan
In 1980 we had a Democratic president who was in many ways a strong Christain man, but who did not bring to foreign affairs the will and energy to
keep the Soviet Union from growing too strong and repressive. The Republicans that year chose former California governor Ronald Reagan to take on the Democratic president, even though many people did not think that he could win in the end. It was my pleasure to hear Ronald Reagan speak in person in Baltimore that Fall, during the campaign, and it made a great impression on me and on all who heard it, I am sure. He seemed to gain a great deal on the president in the closing days of the campaign, and on election day he nearly swept every state in the Union, and brought in the first GOP senate in decades. He was a good president and a good Christian leader in my opinion, who did not pretend to be perfect, but did a wonderful job for us all. May another great Republican leader once again come to the White House to bring back our values, and hopefully the smile of the Lord to the land. |

Re: Ronald Wilson Reagan
I am an admirer of President Reagan. In fact, I just finished reading a book published by his son, Michael. Ronald Reagan: the common sense of an uncommon man. It was a great read.
I don't look to the Republicans to do anything for us or this country, though. The fact that he was affiliated with the GOP was secondary to the fact that he held deeply-rooted conservative values about personal liberty and accountability, and limited government. As far as I'm concerned, as demonstrated by the last two Republican presidents we've had, the two parties are basically the same. Oh, sure, they argue about trivialities and hot button topics, but on the important stuff they're pretty much the same. Arguably, GWB grew the federal government and incurred more debt than any president since FDR. |
Re: Ronald Wilson Reagan
We wont get fooled again, this time we will elect a president who is a true conservative, not a rino. NO mitt romneys , john mcains need apply.
